GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

They all look so nice, can't wait for my 3.

I am afraid I was right about USPS shoddy expected delivery dates as mine hasn't shown and updated out for delivery today. I wish they would be accurate like the rest of the shipping world but I have come to expect it from them.

Mine are here and they are well worth the wait, beautifully make Barlow's. I'm really liking the African Blackwood.

uuughhhh, mail lady is running late today, so no delivery for me on my lunch break.

Wish I could've gotten one of those ebonys, but my knife money was running tight. I can't wait to see the stag ones.

I forgot to tell y'all about the sheath that came with these knives, the sheepfoot 77 fits perfectly in it.

Wow that old red sawcut and ebony look fantastic and those sheaths are an excellent pack in.
Wish I would have added the blackwood also.

LOVE these pics, Augie. They capture some wonderful new cutlery and the wonderful time of year they were released.

That Blackwood looks great. I was outside cleaning my truck when this guy showed up.

Erik - That is a beauty!

I saw a few post in the "totin" thread of the canvas micarta that look awesome as well.

EDIT:

Anyone have any issues, opinions, or comments on the fit, finish, pull etc.? It's a 12 hour day here today and my curiosity is kicking in since mine are sitting at home.

Well, both of my new Yankee Barlows (see post 1772) have officially been inaugurated - they both bit me! :(

Is it just me or has GEC really upped the game in sharpening their new knives the last few months?

Heck yeah! Got a 2-blade in natural canvas micarta today.

Dropped it straight into my pocket. :)

I think they have. All of the 2015 knives I have were sharp right out of the tube. I just recieved my Blackwood barlow, but I can't get any decent pictures of it until I have a bit more freetime.

Hi, Brett. I find the fit and finish excellent. Springs and frame flush on fully open and closed and almost so at the half stop. Pull is about a seven on the single blade and the main seems slightly stronger on the two bladed with the secondary an eight. The blades were very well sharpened. YMMV. I have no complaints; Mike and the GEC gang did a great job on these.:thumbup:

Red Sawcut came out nice. I'd like to second the comment on the sharpness of the one I received as it could have been dropped right in the pocket and used. It seems like every detail was checked off on these.

Pics or it didn't happen ....

I felt a need to contribute. All has been said before about these.
Mike you did an amazing job with these and they really are all anyone ever needs in a knife.
The micarta is outstanding

Really really nice pictures Tim, glad you talked me into the 2B Micarta...maybe tomorrow it will be here. The lighting and background choices look like a pro photo shoot.

Every time I see a picture of the Micarta, I think it looks like it has corn cob covers....and I think it looks absolutely awesome! No need for another beyond my blackwood, but the Micarta sure looks pretty.

A wonderful pattern. A wonderful knife - in general.

I would hope to get my paws on one of these in future - but I doubt it for some reasons. Man, I love the sawcut bone handle.

Thanks for sharing the knives and their variations. :)
