GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Thanks, Dean, I omitted mentioning that the long pull and swedging are especially crisp and even as well.

I suppose Ill put one up too... My micarta #77, also picked one up in blackwood. They are OUTSTANDING!

Does anyone have a picture of this new Medium Barlow, next to a Schatt & Morgan Heritage Jack? I just received my 2 Barlows, but no longer have my Heritage Jack and I wanted to compare the sizes.

Super excited about how the Autumn Gold turned out. Not a great picture, heck I didn't even wipe off the knife... I just had to throw it on the counter and snap a pic

Stunning! This is simply beautiful... From the wonderful deep red color and perfectly executed sawcut bone, to the perfectly centered blades. The solid heft of the 100% all-steel construction, the handsome "Northfield" insignia stamped into the bolster... I'm sitting here admiring it and can't stop fondling this absolutely perfect Barlow pocket knife!

Mike has hit it right out of the ballpark on this one - a Grand Slam! Thank you so much Mike for this - your finest masterpiece here in this spear/coping #77 Barlow.

The springs are perfectly flush both open and closed, the edges on both blades are very sharp. The pull and walk/talk of the blades are all just right IMO - about a "7" is my guess. The sawcut bone and the texture of the rounded pins are all "just right!" also. The polish/finish of the bolster, the satin finish of the blades, the swedge of the blades is also just right with no sharp corners at the spines. Perfecto!!

And most amazing of all... It has bounced the sheepfoot 77 Barlow out of my RFP where it had completely dominated since mid-February when I got it. THAT is saying alot, as that one greatly eclipsed all previous pocket knives. So for this one to do that? Well no more need be said...

I couldn't be happier with this knife. I keep reaching into my pocket and fishing it out! It's opened the day's mail and will be my dinner knife this evening when the pork chops come off the grill. :D

This knife is just about perfect fit and finish wise. I thought about having some wood covers put on, but this canvas micarta is awesome. Love the pull (a stiff 6 imo) and it has great snap.

Definitely is a pretty stiff pull! I actually hope it loosens up a bit. Also, with the coping blade these would be a good candidate for an EO notch... But maybe that would be blasphemy. :D:D

I took my time machine 8 months into the future and found this!

I have some serious Micarta envy!

Got three today and just bought the stag! Gulp. Man, these are just absolutely right. I always worry about new knives getting that first scratch or god-forbid a pepper spot, but when I thought how beautiful this one was going to look with a few years of patina, it went right into my pocket! (Well, in the provided leather case, but still... :))

Mark, it may be better than the 73 imo. I do love the 73 but this one may be right there with it.

I couldn't help myself.
