GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Mark, it may be better than the 73 imo. I do love the 73 but this one may be right there with it.

I couldn't help myself.

Brett, that looks old already!! I was wondering if the bolsters would patina. Question answered, thanks!
BTW, great knife!

Boy... these are great. I got all of the 2b versions, except the stag. I think all will get some pocket time.

Mike, you and GEC did a great job...kudos.

Choombak, which one is your favorite?

Its really difficult to pick a single favorite, they all have excellent covers. However, the ivory bone has such depth... one can get lost in it forever! :-)

Great collection Choombak. I never know if I want one type of covers with all the different blade types, OR one of each type of scales, regardless of blade type...I'm currently between both ideas.

Ha-ha, yes. I must have altered my reservation at least a dozen times looking at this thread swinging from 2B to 1B and this-cover and that-cover, and oh-this-too. No matter which one you get finally, all are awesome. :-)

Every time I see a picture of the Micarta, I think it looks like it has corn cob covers....and I think it looks absolutely awesome! No need for another beyond my blackwood, but the Micarta sure looks pretty.

Corncob sounds right to me [emoji1]

bleh,

VERY NICE! Love that smooooooth AB on the single spear. AB is my favorite wood by far.

I agree. I wish I had gotten the 2 blade in AB. I loved the pics of the old red clip blades form the last run, but in hand, red is just not my color. I took a chance and it didn't pan out.

I like the autumn bone also. Have that on one my my #42's. Apparently the smooth autumn bone scales are not universally loved as I notice they often languish selling in other patterns.

There is no question that I have a preference for a two bladed barlow in general.

Great pics Al and Sean! I am very glad I decided to order one in the Autumn Bone as I was waffling at first. Still waiting for mine to arrive, but really enjoying the pics as they come in for everyone else!

I received my Autumn Bone yesterday, and I just can't stop looking at it. That is a beautiful knife. and since my photography skills don't do it justice I'm not even going to bother. Gorgeous knives folks. All of them. I love the #77 Barlow. I started my GEC sickness with the first run #77 Barlows last year.

I have the same weakness for the old red saw cuts. Great looking line up Al. I have to admit, I wasn't crazy about the look of the rounded but on the smooth bone and wood versions. However now holding a smooooooooth ivory bone in hand it melts into all the right spots and feels great. I get it now.

I agree with greenbuttskunk on the corn cob look and i think it's great being from Iowa!

Great pics everyone!

I still can't seem to stop fondling and admiring this new #77... Perfection just never gets tiring. I find myself really liking the sawcut texture, providing a great worry-stone when daydreaming.

Welp, that didn't take long. I sold both the ones I got yesterday and have a 2 blade blackwood incoming! These thing sure are getting shuffled around.
