GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Bob - That looks great buddy!

It has been cloudy here for days. Terrible lighting to try catch the depth of the Ivory Bone.

Loving my 1AB, the only gripe I have is what looks to be a gouge on the tang. Doesn't bother me too much, as long as I don't look at it:rolleyes:

Skunk, that rough spot on the tang is completely normal, and found on most traditional knives. It comes from the rough cutting of the blades. Very few, if any, production knives bother to "finish" that area of the tang.

Thanks, mamba! My other (few) trads are perfectly smooth, so wasn't sure. It doesn't bother me at all.

The desire for the corn cob is growing!

Yup. Almost all my production knives have that.

I feel like the guy at the end of the line. 2-blade micarta for me and 2-blade stag for my father-in-law incoming tomorrow, if the postal gods hear my prayers.

I'm super-psyched about the micarta. I can't think of a more appropriate cover material than canvas micarta for a working knife such as a barlow. And the micarta pictures I'm seeing in this thread look absolutely marvelous!!!

Very pleased overall with my single AGB... I was hoping it would have a hint of the dark butterscotch that the 2 blades have and I think it does :). Fit and finish is good, no liner gaps!!!! (always makes me happy) I am actually able to pinch this open as well. The one slightly odd thing is the red dot near the butt of one end.. almost like it got a little frisky with one of the red sawcuts during the dye process lol. Kinda reminds me of the red storm on Jupiter with the colors.. but what do you guys/gals think of that? Flaw or added character?

Love the color!

The red dot..

Sitting here in West Yellowstone admiring all of the new 77's , and my Stag , Blackwood , and Smooth Bone are sitting in my Post Office at home. Kind of makes me feel good to see all of yours though.

Mike and GEC have done it again! Beautiful, top notch knives. Thanks for all the work it took to bring these extraordinary knives to us. Appreciate the leather pocket slips, too.

I might be partial to Autumn Gold Bone ;)

To echo everybody else...Bob, that EO mod is phenomenal.

My 2B micarta is breaking in nicely after a good day of carry/use, and I can't wait to see a nice natural patina all over!

Bob, you took a big ole tasty chomp out of that corn cob micarta. Usually people eat the kernels. Seriously though, really nice job. I was going to do it to my smooth ivory, but the thought of botching it overwhelmed me so I sent it to a mod today. I hope your good days far outweigh any other kind of days.
