GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Brett, that looks old already!! I was wondering if the bolsters would patina. Question answered, thanks!
BTW, great knife!

No problem. I like really like it. I just had to know what it would look like, as I love all steel knives. I'm going to let the others age naturally with use.

It will be interesting to see how the bolsters patina with use, since they're rubbing in your pocket all the time.

How many runs have there been so far of the 77 Barlow. The only other one I picked up was the Dark Chestnut in the full size clip/wharnie.

Has anyone created a 77 history thread yet?

I think this thread sort of serves as a history thread. If memory serves, this is the 3rd run of the 77 barlows.

The first run had 2 mains, a swedged clip and a wharncliffe. Nickle silver bolsters and liners. If memory serves it was available in old red sawcut, tan sawcut, blackwood, and maybe autumn gold bone, memory is foggy.

Second run was all single blades, available in long pull clip, long pull sheepsfoot, and wharncliffe. Same cover choices as the first run I believe.

This is the third run, long pull spear main, single or coping blade behind. First run with all steel hardware. Same cover choices as before with the addition of natural micarta and smooth ivory bone.

Great pics Al and Sean! I am very glad I decided to order one in the Autumn Bone as I was waffling at first. Still waiting for mine to arrive, but really enjoying the pics as they come in for everyone else!

Thanks, Erik. You're in for a real treat!

They all look great Al!!!!!

Harry

Thanks, Harry. I know you must be looking forward to getting home and getting your hands on your new 77s. I'm looking forward to your pictures and thoughts on this run of 77 Barlows.

Appreciate it Sean and Al, that's exactly what I was looking for. Seeing how many of each produced is always neat.

You're welcome. I agree. I always look forward to the production numbers being released. Hopefully, 2015's numbers will be released as early as 2014's were (late January/early February).

I've just recently taken an interest in Barlows. There sure are some beautiful ones on this thread, especially "in my opinion", the single blade Wharncliffe and Spears. I like either single blade knives, or 3 blades, like a Stockman. The second blade hanging around reminds me of having a girlfriend who has a kid!

Idahoguy - OUCH!!:thumbdn: I would drop that last sentence. There are several here with families that allow their kids to read along. It could be taken the wrong way.

Keep an eye in the Traditional For Sale area. These will be showing up there but will go real fast, so watch it close and jump when one shows up.

  What in the world ?

The sentence could be taken as though the "kid" is not wanted. I just don't agree with that sentiment being posted where this is supposed to be a family friendly forum.

Email sent: If you would like to discuss this further we can off line.

Agreed 100%. That sentence should be redacted since it can be interpreted several ways (including offensive). This is the most family friendly area, and my daughter (8 yrs.) does look at knife pictures here.

Thanks for adding the list, Al.

Mike just told me, personally, that the Anniversary Barlow is coming in Amber Soup Bone and Dark Denim Micarta! Woooohoooo!
