GEC 86’s for 2023

So what do you all think on the Waynorth's if you could only get one? Smooth white bone, or Gabon Ebony?

Both covers are classics, but honestly I will be happy to source either one. This is one of the things I really like about Charlies SFO's, his choices of style and cover materials are timeless.

One day I hope to see him make a GEC SFO recreation of the Imperial/Hammer Hopalong Cassidy knife on the 66 or 68 frame with Gabon Ebony covers (hint hint).

My Big Red harness jack is really well put together. I feel like GEC is really at the top of it's game, construction wise.

I just unwrapped mine and I would say the main is about a 6.5 and the punch a 7.5 on the SAK pull strength scale. Basically perfect.

No special tube art tho. Booo. Sweet button as a bonus, however!

It is an 8 for sure - a bit hard to open!! But safe!!! Good for a punch!!!

And I’m sure it improves as one oils the joints

For the people who have the red micarta 86, how are the pulls? I’m hearing an 8 or 9 so far.

I agree with K Kiteman72 . The main is about a 6. The punch has a stronger pull. I like it a lot better than the bone two blade I had. It’s much lighter with the micarta. It’s a really nice knife!

A marrow bone or a harness jack (especially a Waynorth!) would be great to land, but trying is not for the faint of heart. As an old porch member used to say, the hunt for a GEC is war.

Man, I really want one of the marrow bone barlows but unfortunately I don't have an in with any dealers and the drops are really hard to land. There are a couple on ebay for $500 to $600 already. The scalpers are ruthless...

I hope they just sit there, that’s insane. I’m a huge GEC fan, but at that price point I would be looking at some custom makers.

After looking at the photo shoot for the CCs TPK has posted they really are stunning. I know some/most will be kept as safe queens but that just screams to be used and used well. In my early days of collecting I wasn't fond of the punch but have come to love how versatile it is for random uses. Once again, bravo on this one waynorth !
