GEC 86’s for 2023

The 86 pattern is such a wonderful canvas to make all sorts of cool knives on. It's been a treat to see everyone's acquisitions. I haven't heard much a a whisper regarding anywhere these are getting released but sometimes lightning strikes in my favor so I managed to land the one out of the bunch that I was really keen on.

This CC Rider is my first GEC-made Harness Jack and I couldn't have asked for a better made GEC. The Ebony is the nicest I have seen in a good long while, the pulls on both blades are quite stout, and that punch is very much a thing of beauty.

Nicely done, Charlie and GEC, this is an exquisite knife. I can't wait to put it to use.

I don't have an exhaustive collection of 86s but I am pretty pleased with the examples I do have.

Man, I'm going to need an updated family photo myself soonish. Beautiful shot as always, D.

These Waynorth 86s are amazing. Looks like I missed all the drops while working out of town, so I'll be watching the secondary market for these! Those punches are awesome, and the clip blade looks great. Very nice looking run from GEC, especially on the Riders.
The flipping has started, there are a few on the auction site. Way out of my budget.

I think I have to call it. These Marrow Bone Barlows have to be just about the most beautiful knives that Bill Howard has ever made! Good grief!

I know everyone has their preferences for the amount of soup they like in their bone, but this one is just right for me. Not too much and not too little. The pile side is almost identical.

Whenever you get frustrated by how difficult GEC knives are to get, just take a look at one of these. I believe we are in the golden age of GEC knives, and it will not last forever. I will put up with the difficulties in order to snag one like this every once in a while.

Charlie waynorth waynorth . Even though this is not a Waynorth SFO, your influence is all over this knife. You have helped Bill to up his game in many ways. Thanks!
That’s a nice shot if a stunning Knife !!

Nice character in those handles!!
Empire Knife Co. invented that shield well over 100 years ago!! Schrade used it in the 1980s, and gave credit to Empire, in their advertising!!!!!
Charlie, GSJ is not listening you very dapper hat’s on his website. I find this disconcerting. Where would someone go to purchase one? 😀

From curiosity; would it be been possible to have the #86 punch made with a long-pull instead of the classic nail-nick?
I'm not bashing THE RIDER, it is a most gorgeous knife (and I feel very lucky that I will get one in bone myself).
