Simple and practica. That’s a knife that’s just going to get better with age. Out of the whole release this one was pushing top of the list![]()
I bought this one from the store during my visit a few weeks ago. I was deciding between this one and another with similar grain. Bill Howard was in the store with us. He picked this one up and said this was his kind of knife. He said he liked a nice simple, straightforward knife. I was actually going to pick the other example, but instead picked this one because Bill had opened and closed it and handed it to me.![]()
Now, hold on just a minute - was that the other one thatGood choice!!!
I got one from the store also, with a little help from a friend!!View attachment 2288426
I said as of late, meaning the last couple years where a lot of them were 500- 1,000 or so. 2008 was a whole different story.
Did you happen to catch the numbers of the Rivertown Jacks? I regret not going for one, but I imagine the numbers were relatively large.Well, I ended up getting all of the run including both Waynorth's. I didn't get the River Jack as it didn't appeal to me. I got production numbers on these from the source, and it looks like maybe they were so hard to score. they really are pretty low in comparison with patterns of late. Here's what I found out. We know the Waynorth's were 250 each with a few extras on on the ebony due to extra parts. Red linen harness jack's... clip and sheep foot- 325 of each. Marrow Bone-233. Now here's one that surprised me, Yellow Rose- 175 initial run. They said they did a few more of them last week, but not very many at all and didn't have an exact count. You may see a small amount of them dropping over the next week.
So there you have it. A pretty small run on some great knives.
Here’s a picture of my haul from the latest run:
Why would you be, they are sensational. But I’m not sad
Aren't those just third (or further) cut bones? I never thought they can be hard to source...IMO the difficulty makes sense because this is a hard handle material to source
Check post 453 in this very thread.Aren't those just third (or further) cut bones? I never thought they can be hard to source...
Did they mention the Bocote River Town versions?Well, I ended up getting all of the run including both Waynorth's. I didn't get the River Jack as it didn't appeal to me. I didn't ask on the Rivertown Jack's as I didn't get that one. I will get that one for you guys tomorrow as I need to follow up on something with them anyhow. It may be lower than expected as they ran short for their store knives.Did you happen to catch the numbers of the Rivertown Jacks? I regret not going for one, but I imagine the numbers were relatively large.
And also thanks for the intel, very interesting!
When the 2021 BF knife was in the works it was suggested that soup bone would be really cool. Unfortunately that got shut down because our Barlow was a big enough order that they’d have great difficulty or impossibility sourcing enough suitable bone for that many… so I had the distinct impression that it was only something we might see on relatively small runs. And these new 86 barlows do not disappoint. They’re very nice knives.Aren't those just third (or further) cut bones? I never thought they can be hard to source...
