GEC #86 2021: Angus Jack, 2AB, Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife)

Anyone think the new BF looks a lot like the blood red 77? i don’t have the new BF in hand yet so can’t say for sure how close they are color-wise, also gonna need someone to loan me a blood red 77, sheepsfoot preferred and I’ll get it right back to you….stole @kamagong photo for comparison, hope that’s ok.

I think that’s a good comparison. I was wondering the same thing. Gonna compare I’m natural daylight tomorrow

I think GEC did a terrific job on the Rust Orange Natural Bone. It's not quite the color of Case's Red Bone like I thought it would be (at least my example isn't) but the texture, thickness, and its own color is really, really nice. Natural Bone always has some irregularities and it doesn't seem to take the dye as consistently as other bone types - though that might be intentional. As long as you know what to expect, it is a vibrant and unique choice.

Cant wait to see your selection Harry, hope you are on the mend and moving easily again! my luck finally turned for these as well. suppose it was a matter of time.
Were you able to get The One that you wanted Jack , or did you have to Settle ???? There were Zero Bad Choices in my opinion .

Thanks for the Comparison Shot my friend . I have been wondering about it also .
You can also use this photo if you wish . The Clip has been carried and the Sheepsfoot has not . Vintage is the Early 2015 Run

Thanks, that minty sheepsfoot looks a lot like some of the reddish BF 86s I’ve seen so far. Look forward to seeing more and a daylight comparison would be great.

Those are beautiful Dylan, your 2AB is much more orange than mine but I really like the texture they have.

Anyone have or see an Angus Jack where the tip is just the tiniest bit proud of the handle when closed, unless you really press down firmly? Seems like it's just asking to get caught on threads in your pants pocket. But maybe it's a fluke and no one else has seen or handled one with that issue.

Mine is a tiny bit, and I’ve seen others say the same thing. With a straight edge sheepsfoot main I’m not too concerned bc it’s not going to protrude at an upward angle. Feel free to file, but a bit proud on a sheepsfoot is much less bothersome to me than a proud clip or spear

It is my understanding that since I was one of the earlier ones to order, mine will be with the final batch that GEC is shipping out. All is well - good things come to those who wait - or so it is said.
I’m in same boat, did all my ordering as per directions, three notices from Gunstock including the third with tracking number…and “mine” is not even in the hands of the postman yet. Oh well, as long as it arrives all will be good! I must say I’m loving all these pics of RED knives…seems like the color was preordained and we all just went through the motions…I’m happy though, I voted for red!! I’m hoping the final copies are more soup bone, seen a few so far that have a more concave, irregular cover as opposed to the seemingly more common flat slab covers. Barry, gnarly for me please!

It’s hard having all the updates in one place but Barry (Gunstock Jack’s Knives) mentioned he received and shipped 250 BF Knives this past week and GEC had a vacation and this whole week off so they’re going to send him another 250 knives when they’re back for Barry to then send to the rest of us who are waiting.

So just gotta stay patient, our knives are on the way in due time!

I got my BF yesterday. Beautiful. When I figure out how to post pics, I'll throw one up. A lot of the ones I'm seeing do look reddish. Mine is also but shifts to a reddish brown depending on the light, and varies from one end to the other. Here we go with the "ishish" again. I think that's what makes it unique also. The dang thing could have been rainbow glitter and still be awesome imo.

Was rainbow glitter an option?!? Maybe next year…..I keep waiting for one that has the same hues as the 66s they did in hemlock but so far red seems to be the majority.

Finally completed my 2AB set. Now to remain patient for the BF Barlow to complete this years single blade 86 run! Wohoo
Is it just the lighting, or is the blade on the OD canvas brushed and not polished like the other two?
