The bf barlow color is very subject to the lighting. I think most are probably pretty similar, its just the different lighting. Even if i hold a flashlight and change the angle, the color changes. When holding a light to the sawcut part, i can see speckles of red. Very neat knife. Meanwhile, the reddish area looks more orangish than red on one side. Yet also almost a bronze color. Stunning knife in all lights.

Is it just the lighting, or is the blade on the OD canvas brushed and not polished like the other two?
Correct, the OD Green bolster and blade are brushed.
Every one a GEM my friend . Congrats on getting each one so far .

Harry
Thank you sir, indeed they are! I feel like I’m
missing the Angus 86’s but I’m not much of a two blade fella.

Peter.

That is the kind of Natural Bone I was hoping for Paul . I have 2 and neither are close to being that deeply featured . Great photos to show that surface so well . I know , I know !!! No picture or it did not happen . There has been about 15 minutes of space in time here folks . Paul Called and I had to take some photos .
Mine came in today . The knife in the background behind mine is Paul's .

I haven't really ever been drawn to micarta covers on traditionals, to be honest. I understand the durability advantages, etc., but always try for bone, wood, or antler handles on these old-timey knives. I felt lucky to reserve a 2AB, and when notified to make my choice, there were no bone-handled knives remaining.

So I jumped on the red/black micarta choice...and happy I did! I like it better than the canvas, as it seems to be more polished - resembling a dark wood perhaps. It does in feel, anyway! Great knives on this run! Here it is with the forum knife...

This run of 86s has been a wonderful way to transition into fall. Though I don't yet have our BF knife in hand yet, I do have an Angus Jack and a 2AB and both are absolute gems. I really love how GEC conducted this pattern release - a classic jack, a new Barlow (stainless even), and a special release for our forum knife. There is a lot to unpack here and all of it is enjoyable.

Both knives here are superb examples of GEC's work. Impeccable fit and finish, superb walk and talk, and some of the smoothest actions and sharpest factory edges that I've experienced from them.

Like some here, I do not prefer GEC's stainless. I have had precious few examples over the years and I just haven't taken to it like I have their 1095. That said, this 2AB is a marvel and I look forward to its company in the future. I love the bone choice - despite it being a touch light and bright for my usual tastes, I still love the autumn color and I feel it ties in nicely with the bolster stamp.

A new knife to accompany me through my absolute favorite season.

Still waiting on the Spring Street but these two join an impeccable 86 lineup (in my opinion, anyway).

Unfortunately, I do not yet have a 14 Barlow but the 2AB is otherwise in good company - GEC makes a tremendous Barlow and it's wonderful to add an 86 to that particular family.

The Angus Jack joins an excellent family of 2-blade swell end jacks (14, 15, 77, 86 and all in Ebony! - no 2-blade 78s unfortunately). Seriously, if the BF knife wasn't so darned nice, I'd say that the AJ would be the pick of the run - it is that nice of a knife.

An incredible effort by GEC, I'm very impressed with this run.
My word you have a mighty fine collection, those bright colours will be great on a gloomy winters day.

Thanks very much for your perspective, jsdistin. These are (relatively) taller than any other GEC I have, but I'm not going to let that get in the way of enjoying it.
Mine is the same, head are very prominent, I have a jigged bone 15 I carry a lot that is similar but they are the anomalies in my GECs.

Finally got one of these beauties! My new well-done Angus Jack thanks to a great trade with A akaMatt ! Thanks Matt, I love it!
You are welcome, Paul! And thank you for reaching out on the trade, I definitely love the one you sent. I’ll be posting pics soon in another thread here. That Angus Jack is sweet, I hope it brings you much joy!

So many great knives and ditto photos posted in thread. As a Porch newcomer it's hard to not get drawn into the enthusiasm here. Hopefully the Angus and 2AB will arrive at my doorsteps soon - as for the international/European orders of forum knife, well, I hope we'll see some clearance soon. The knife is a stunner.

That's some drool-worthy bone, Paul.
Family photo. Very happy with all of them but the Angus Jack and the Forum Barlow are my favorite.

You, too. Thanks for showing them off.

I started carrying pocket knives as a kid, and I always carried some kind of traditional knife. When I received my first GEC made barlow, I wished they would produce one in stainless. Prior to the #86 frame, I would have wished for it on the #77 frame, but I do favor the #86 now that it exists. The wait was worth while:
