Imho both of those look beautiful! I’d take either one. 😃

Yes, I agree and am very happy with both. For fun I was able to track done an acrylic pen blank that was pretty much an exact match to the dead skunk and turn a pen and lanyard bead so I wanted to do the same for the apples and oranges but have not found anything close except the dead skunk (referred to as Fire and Ice in the pen making world). I guess I'll have to try painting the inside, drilled out core of a piece orange and see what I get.

Boy these 89s will disappear on you. Slender knife, just vanishes in your pocket. Real nice fit and finish with a very light pull, no gap’s anywhere. I do like the apple and oranges acrylic which works well on this frame. Still not a fan of this recent acrylic run with its seams. However, due to the slender nature of the knife the straight lines within the acrylic aren’t as noticeable. No protruding tip, but this has to be the dullest GEC I’ve ever received, just skips over paper.

Whew, ok I'm not the only one. I have to say, the only GEC I've received that has been actually sharp recently has been my Bloodwood #38. My #89, almost completely dull, and both TC Glitter and RG were, sad to say, duller than dirt. Same with my Urban Jacks. Maybe the guy at GEC who can sharpen spearpoints, quit? 🤔

Got one in the mail yesterday. I've been wanting an 89 since I started collecting GEC, just can't get myself to pay what they have been bringing on the secondary. I love it. Maybe I'll spring in the future for 2 or 3 blade version.

Is the acrylic red and orange (as would make sense)? It’s a little hard to tell from the pictures...
Yes. Can't speak for others but my photos have accurate colors as they have been color corrected against a whi-bal gray reference. Here is the same photo with the whi-bal gray reference visible along the top. I crop the whi-bal out before posting but use it for accurate color. Each pixel is represented by 3 bytes, one for red, one for green, one for blue (RGB) ranging from 0-255 ... 0,0,0 is as black as possible, 255,255,255 is as white as possible Examine the whi-bal in this pic with a photo editing program you will notice all three values are the same, about 220, 220, 220. When all three values are the same your white balance is accurate making the colors in your photo accurate. Unless you are using a photo spectrometer to calibrate your monitor, the device you are using to view them is far less accurate than the colors in this photo.

I’ve got to say, I’m most impressed with this from GEC out of their past few runs. Didn’t know how I’d feel about it, but fit and finish are superb and it’s so slim and refined. Really loving the acrylic too, what a champ in SS also!

I really do like this knife and I think I got a good one, even though the tip is very slightly proud. I was however surprised at how small it was. As a fruit knife, the handle feels a bit small in the hand when cutting up an apple. Still, it's a keeper for me. For those of you who have not seen one in person, here is a comparison with some other knives I think work as good fruit knives. A GEC #12 and a Rough Rider Large Toothpick. The large toothpick is my preferred size for a fruit/lunch knife.

I'm enjoying all the great pics and very much looking forward to my first GEC in stainless. I was wondering though, is there a noticeable difference in ability to sharpen or edge holding capability? I would assume the have about the same hardness as the 1095..
