GEC Annual RendeZvous

This is going to be a great meeting! A lot of people from this and other forums; I cannot wait!!
I am packing tonight, and leaving bright and early.
I'll visit my brother and his family in the outskirts of Buffalo, NY, then down to Titusville on Wednesday!

You are the lucky one Charlie! :cool:
Go have a good time and bring back plenty of pics.
Safe trip,
Dave

Every year my extended families vacation/reunion occurs in the end of July. I believe I might just cut it short next year, or else plead that the week long vacation occurs after the GEC/Queen weekend. I'm not even going on the family vacation this year, yep, this week.

Ok how did it go today? Still on the fence about Saturday, will there be many there come Saturday morning??

Just got back from the open house a bit ago. Had a great time! My wife and I got to talk to Charlie and got a tour by the owner himself. Both great guys and I even got my 55 polished and sharpened! Everyone we talked to was very nice. Def going to try to make it up next year. Thanks!!!

Decided to head on down tomorrow cya there :)

You all have fun, I wish I could be there too and meet some of you. (And get my dirty fingers on some o' them purty knives :D)

Folks that were there the past two days, did they also have knives available to buy there to?
and...where are all the pics ;)

I'm coming up tomorrow. Hope to be there by 10.

Yep! If you poke around Great Eastern's website for their "store," anything listed there (online) is available for coon fingering, chicken eyeing, and purchase.

Charlie Campagna is also selling his newly-rolled out sheepsfoot barlows there at the factory.

and...where are all the pics ;)

As noted in another thread, I am a picture taker fail person.

Hey Gary, feel free to ask Bill what the story is behind the "SCOUT" shield on the new 15's. Inquring minds want to know (mainly me!). Have a great time.

I would like to hear too, but I bet it has something to do with this old Remington R963 design (cannot wait to own one of the GEC versions):

I believe that's a Bingo, though more concrete confirmation is of course welcome. I caught part of an explanation today that described the scout shield as fitting for an easy-open knife with a sheepsfoot main, as inspired by a traditional pattern with all those particulars. The knife you've pictured above certainly fits the bill!

I didn't think I'd like 'em, but the finished ebony knife I saw today is striking.

Just got back from an all day drive from Pittsburgh. I thought we'd have time to drive up to Titusville, but it just didn't work out with our schedule. Jealous of all you guys able to make the Rendezvous, see GEC, the knives, and Charlie!

Maybe next year, but I gotta get out that way, with a stop at another famous Western Pennsylvania place on the way of course, it's been years since I was there last.

Cheers,
Griff

Had an early wakeup call to drive down to Titusville, easy to find, just follow all the cars!

Here's a now familiar shot of the front steps, they had some fixin's prepared for us during the day out there;

Charlie aka Waynorth was a gentleman and had some lovely Barlow's for everyone to drool over, here are some shots of the sheeps foot Barlow's

I ended up getting a very nice Spearpoint sawcut TC Barlow, one of the first, has the PPP on the back of the blade, VERY nice knife! I'll get photos of my small haul later on

Here's one of Waynorth sitting outside the small GEC store minding his table of Barlows.

Here's some of the items they had on display for sale, glass was a bit finger printy so pardon that but you can see they had a nice selection, there were two more cabinets that I didn't get a chance to take a pic of;
