GEC Beagles

Before I typed in "Out For Delivery" I checked for updates and is "Delivered PO Box!!!"

The Beagle is in the kennel!! Watered/feed and curled up on a fresh bed of straw snoozing away!!

Oh yeah.. And the knife a AWESOME too!!! :D John

KSF yellow and brown camel bone just showed up.

Finally made it to the PO Box. All out of tubes. Red Micarta in my watch pocket. 2 Cola in a pants pocket until I can get back home and get them in their kennels.

Just got notification of my reservation for natural canvas micarta and it's ordered already. Should ship Monday?

Just took mine out of the mailbox and decided to snap a few pictures with my trusty peanut. It's odd that being nearly identical in size the beagle somehow feels smaller than the peanut. I'm inclined to believe that it has to do with just how rounded the beagle is compared to the peanut.

Red micarta came in today and natural canvas ships on the 7th. Now we need a run of 55s so that these little guys have a big brother.

Hi Jeff nice video, the only thing is after watching it the first time i had to go ahead and order one for myself, i did not fancy the idea of one that smelt of an oily old garage. So as i already have a #18 Coyote in jig bone that is what i went with, a sort of matching pair deal. I have found the Coyote a little awkward now that my fingers are going arthritiky although it has a nice soft pull that i like, so i am hoping the Beagle has a bit more heft in the hand . I had been carrying a #25 Little Jack that i found to be just the right size to EDC but a combination of the arthritis and a split thumb nail has had me carrying a little Spyderco for its ease of opening, so maybe the Beagle will put me back on the right path again. Thanks again Jeff for encouraging me to spend what will be $100+ by the time it gets to me.
Regards OMR.

My apologies to your wallet sir! ;)

I bought two. One to share. This one is darker and grainier. Both have really nice fit and finish. There is a smooth feel between the bolsters and wood. Also, these feel very sharp, a lot sharper than some of the previous GEC's that I have bought new.

I live in oil country, have shipped many many sucker Rods in my day (modern metal), so I'm glad I noticed they were in! One incoming!

Nice knives, guys! The classic shield is the cherry on top for this rebirth of a classic.

....

The peanut makes a nice reference for the size but the pattern is more similar to this old Valley Forge... though the "Beagle" is a bit smaller. The other knife in the photo is a Cattaraugus that is closer to the size and shape of Case's peanut. I think all of these knives can be called "peanuts" (small round end serpentine jacks).

Sorry for the dark reflections on the blades. Shiny surfaces look dark in scans.

Received my Natural Canvas Beagle yesterday and dyed it with Oxblood Leather Dye like my Natural 'Yote. :)

My grandparents used to have a separate garage that was set into a hill, and the floor was made of big old beams from somewhere. Over the years, they had been infused with motor oil from multiple old leaky cars and pickups, and by the time I came along, it had a wonderful smell to a little boy. This knife smell reminds me of that.

What a wonderful description! Thanks for sharing that memory. There are a couple of smells like that that bring me immediately back to visiting my grandparents as a kid.

The Beagle is a bit small for my taste, but this oil sucker is piquing my curiosity. :)

Nice design... like the comparison pic with the CASE 'nut.

But, IIRC, the GEC #06 Pemberton was also in everybody´s mind years back. But finally it flopped and doesn´t show up too often.
If the #18 frame will work - time will show.
