GEC Champlin Eureka Jack??

I agree. I might look into getting an Ebony one because I like the configuration, but this knife begs for a Northfield version with shield, bolsters, and a long pull.

I agree...long pull and a nice old style shield would make that knife! I have a JBF Champlin Stag coming...cant wait!

Those JB Champlins look great. I should have jumped when I first heard a whisper, but I was a little late to the party.

I lucked out. It wasnt clear how to order. Assumed that since they had a web page you would be able to order from there. Not so. Its all about phone calls. Great guys to deal with.

I'm after those Antique Green Bone ones! At least I THINK that's what the GEC website calls them.....Really enthusiastic about this one, great blade array.

I am in the camp that they look plain. Any northfields being released? If so maybe they will have a shield.

I don't quite get it.... plenty of others in their line at the same price point with shields. It just looks unfinished to my eyes.

So true Bass. I think the little 25 that just got released with the sheepsfoot looks good without a shield, but its so small and I guess if I had a choice I would put one on that two. I just equate traditionals with shields. Its like cookies and milk :)

I agree guys, I think the Eureka would be killer with a pinned shield instead of the 4th handle pin, maybe a grooved bolster too. Definitely would like to see a long pull instead of the nail nick.

Great looking pattern. Are there Northfields on the drawing board?

Yes, going back and looking at those Champlin pics, the added finishing touches on these make this pattern so sweet. And the 4th pin stayed. Really a fine looking pattern. Surely they are doing a Northfield version...

I hope if there is a Northfield version coming, that it will look like the Champlin version. Everything about that knife is spectacular.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I love the plain appearance of the ebony and bone versions. Especially with no etch and the steel construction. I am trying to decide whether I want the ebony and ivory pair, pretty good marketing on the part of GEC :P

I like them too. I really wish the had at least the hotdog shield common on the Tidiuote models but I can probably live without one. I've got one of each on order and plan on using the ebony right away.

AFAIK, there haven't been any Northfields announced yet. I think the Tidioutes are probably the extra knives they needed to do a full production run of the pattern. It would be similar to the TC Barlow/Boy's Knife being released around the same time.

I was really excited to hear about the ebony version, but the all steel construction and the lack of a shield have cooled me on these a bit. There are a few patterns that look better without a shield, but this isn't one of them IMO. I guess I'll just wait for the next go 'round to see what they do with this pattern.

I'll be picking up my stag handled Champlin this week from Mike, just in time for my birthday :)

THEY'RE HERE......THEY'RE HERE!!!!! Postman just delivered a nice package!
