How about a double lockback, like the old Camillus 716? I carried that the first 10 years of hunting deer. Great knife.

+1000 I have emailed GEC several times politely requesting exactly that.

OKCA had better hope it isn't one of the sub-4-inch trapper patterns. They will lose two sales right there with me and that is actually a significant part of their offering. 4.5 sounds like a real Oregon trapper worth taking into our wilderness areas.

I am still hoping for a single blade, slipjoint model 73.

They made a few in 2015. These used to be known as bear traps and this one is no exception. Great knife! I love the cut swedge and nick on this one. Wouldn't mind seeing them come out again.



On the subject of large blades and trapper style, I wouldn't mind seeing the 23 Bull Lock make another appearance.

My interests are no longer in the direction of accumulating as it was when I first found BladeForums and GEC.
In those days a 23 bull lock was high on my list but it never materialized. I know I'm repeating myself but for all those who yearn for a 73 be careful what you wish for because after it's in hand you'll find you will have no need for another knife. I rest my case. See below:

I would love a chance at a 72 or 73. Ironically, I was recently able to pick up a knife I had been in search of for ~9 months and the 72 was next on the list to add.

Large trapper that was gifted to me years ago in a GAW. Stays close to the kitchen. I know, I know, it's not a kitchen knife, but it is a large spey in a trapper pattern that see a lot of kitchen duty on smaller stuff.

I've been wanting one.

I always wanted a #73 Square End Scout and before I found one to buy I was gifted this one by a very generous member in a GAW but for the life of me I can't remember his name. Please let me know if anyone recognizes the knife. I remember I actually won 2 knives because another member donated a cool Boker as well. These knives were known to be bare traps but mine must be well worn in because it's got beautiful loud walk & talk but it's not difficult to open at all. ✌

I absolutely love my 23's!!!! I would love a chance to buy another. Have never tried a 73, but am very tempted if the right opportunity came.

GEC had some outstanding Stag back in '09! This was a "Get-Well-Gift" when I was in the hospital, unable to walk on my own!! I felt like getting up to dance!! There are great friends in the knife community!! The knife worked like a charm!!
The #73 is a very usable size at 3 3/4"!!

I hope they do single blades.

I have 23 from the 06 run and recently traded into a 73 in Casein from the 07 run (should be here tomorrow!), Both two blades. But I had single blades of both in the past and I think they're a lot more pocket friendly.

Although the 23 and 73 are very accurate renditions of the old Remingtons, they tend to be quite heavy for their size. The more recent 74 pattern (especially in the drop point blade) are just as effective and a good deal lighter in pocket.

The one blade "trappers" are certainly more pocket friendly in the large frames. I do think it's time for GEC to go with a new 72-73 pattern and perhaps a 42 or 23.... Been a couple years at least with the 23's. They will be fairly pricey I suspect. I have a fair pile of the two blade models and a couple one blades.
