GEC new #43 pattern, who’s excited?

This is the one I snagged. The dealer sent pictures of all the ones he was getting and this was the most popcorny. I'm pretty excited.

Don't know for sure. You would need to call GEC and I'm not sure they would have an exact number to tell you immediately. I will take a shot at an uneducated random guess - Excluding the 2016 beer scout run GEC usually puts out somewhere between 100-200 per cover. This greatly varies from anywhere from 1 to over 650 as in the beer scout run. Guessing off the number of camels on dealer sites, and dealers posting that the stag run was going to be short, I bet you will see around 10 per dealer. Even if each dealer has 20 or 50 it's more about right place/right time. My random guess is around 80.

The dealer I got mine through said he got 5. These were more expensive than some other single blade stag knives, I have a feeling it's pretty tough to get good stag in this size these days.

I finally caved in and grabbed a very nicely figured cocobolo before they vanished; should be here next week. I really don't care for the nick inside the swedge, but I guess it isn't a deal breaker, as I bought one. Why they didn't continue the practice of the long pull behind the swedge for Northfields, I'll never know. The long pull clip on the #72s and #83s is the nicest one extant.

I only saw 5 total for sale so far from gec dealers. Is that the way it works with a hot product? sold before they hit public?
I am sure some were sold before they hit public but I am also sure that some were sold while you were looking at all the GEC Dealers . Hot Products do go that way my friend . I am very glad that you were able to score a Fat Stag too my friend . Congrats to you my friend .

Harry,

Wow, what a gorgeous specimen! So happy that one found a good home with a genuine stag junkie!;)
Thank you very much Jamie !! I feel very fortunate to be able to get that one . I guess I do resemble that remark my friend . I only hope that I have enabled other people to appreciate Stag too .

Harry, I am so pleased that you were able to snag such a gorgeous piece of stag. You have an enviable collection already, this 43 is only going to enhance it further. Congratulations, my friend.

I cannot wait to see your pictures when you get it in hand.

Thank you very much Dylan !!! It has been shipped and scheduled for Monday delivery !!! I just hope my photography skills are up to the same level as the GEC Cutlers workmanship .

Dang! Are these all gone? I saw the pics on the GEC site yesterday and got all excited but no luck crusing the usual dealers. Someone shoot me a PM if otherwise. Sometimes the GEC poaching is like obscure wizardry.

Based on the pictures I have seen so far, including the ones on GEC's site, it appears that they picked some pretty exceptional stag for this run of 43s. Everyone who is able to snag one should be quite thrilled.

These look gorgeous- congrats to all that scored one and I look forward to seeing pics!!!

125 stag knives seems very low for this first run of this pattern.

I do think the handle shape, wider than most, lends itself to good textured stag.

I still think the red jig bone is my favorite.
