GEC Rendezvous 2023 Announced

As far as knife pics will start with the older GEC and non GEC knives I picked up. I have always wanted a GEC 2 blade stag 25 barlow from 2008, finally found one from a vender at the Rendezvous.

Did some trading with Charlie and Lyle and ended up with 2 mint early Schrade Cut Co jacks, a 3 3/8" sheepsfoot from Lyle and a 3 1/8" spear blade jack from Charlie, both in incredible condition for their age, I think Charlie got me though, the one he traded me someone scribbled on the back of the blade.;)😆

im already disappointed, a lot of my friends were there and I didnt get a chance to see them. received a surprising number of messages missing my presence.
Jack,
We knew that You could not make the trip, but You were in our thoughts throughout the Rendezvous and picnic.
We hope to see You next year.
It was a nice relaxing and fun time visiting with friends and making new ones.
Tim

I’m glad we had the opportunity to meet. I felt like we had met before because I knew who you were from the video Rob Bixby posted back in 2015 of the Rendezvous from that year. Next time we should all wear name tags with our Blade Forums name written under our real name.

BTW, Nathan Denning is my brother-in-law. He is the one that you traded with this past weekend to obtain the red acrylic Hen & Rooster farmers Jack.
Part of the problem with recognition was you wearing your glasses, you appear less woodsy and more studious or maybe intense :) with them . I think I got you all now.

Lord willing , I may try to ride up with somebody next year, if I can find someone that has the same timeline that I want. I used to stop and see a friend that made the trip a lot easier, but unfortunately I lost him.

Since starting to attend, the Rendezvous has always been the pinnacle in my knife collecting and I not for the knives.

Thanks Tim, looks like I missed a great one, waynorth waynorth , wlfryjr wlfryjr , Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley and many other forum greats made it along with a lot of friends from the groups. Hope all is well with you and the missus!

lord willing and the creek don't rise!

Oh man, these pictures have ruined me. I really must get out to the next rendezvous next year. Those 35 sfa's are going to haunt me all day! Thank you all for the great photos.

Here are some of the Rendezvous knives I picked up, both SFA's and store knives.

The 87 Rendezvous knife in stag, a SFA 87 in smooth whit bone and the 65 in red stag, I think this is the first time GEC tried red stag and it came out well.

A 59 regular production picked up because of nice stag, little bit of red to it. The Johnny On The Spot electricians, I had missed them on the drops and GEC had pretty good deal on store knives, I can't find anything wrong with it.

The Cattle knife and the 39's in ebony and desert ironwood, the 39 desert ironwood is probably my favorite pick up.

The 35 ebony and the 39's are amazing; I would have grabbed those as well. Tell me, do you know exactly what Red Stag is? Is that just stag dyed red? I have some amazing older Queen knives in Red Stag and I cannot find a clear answer on it.

I think so, I think I heard Bill say they had some stag laying around that may have not been the quality they were looking for so they decided to try dying it, Looks like it worked out very well, wonder if they might use it in the future.

Augie, the ebony cattle knife is an heirloom treasure, looks like a knife from a hundred years ago.
And I've always been partial to red stag, the #65 is gorgeous! So it turns out you didn't just gab with your friends! ;)

I thought I would share my 35 pattern SFAs. Have a great night!
