Generic knives

I'm all about supporting the makers here. I would think buying one of their handmade blades offered in the knife makers sell forum, would help determine if a custom would be down the road.
Someone may find that a hand made knife fills the boxes the same as a custom.

I think he was talking about knives like the higonokamis where even the cheaper ones are “hand forged” by an individual apprentice smith. These generally won’t be considered custom knives....I guess.

Whatever, dude. I spoke from knowledge. You from ignorance. It's not uncalled for to call someone out for baseless insults of a friend.
Insults? You seem a bit confused. Dialogue was made civilly and I was able to better understand the point of the OP. Fight your own battles, dude. Feel free to PM, stop muddying the thread with whatever it is you feel you're doing.

Your first post in this thread was an insult or don't you know what the word pretentious means? Hence my not so friendly response. You made assumptions about me and the knife and both were wrong. The only confused one is you.

Given how pretentious the OP seems, I'll go ahead and say "why buy something that was designed by someone other than yourself with little input on the design?" It seems like if your paying that price, you should take the time to research materials and shapes, and design something for your own hand. It's not "custom" unless it's bespoke. I like Charlie Mike here and Dylan Farnham for stuff like this.

Next person should say "Well then why don't you learn to make your own knives?" Its all relative.

That said, I Just grabbed a production Perrin push dagger in 440c for 30.00 and it's not bad at all. Sheath is great.

I have owned "customs" with lesser fit and materials than productions of the same price as well...
Right here first sentence. Followed by an assumption that was incorrect.

Its was phrased rhetorically. "You" didn't mean "shinyedges" and I intended "OP" to refer to the original post, not poster.
I am the original poster. Nothing pretentious about the OP. You wandered in here insulting people acting like you know it all, here to educate us

You're new to the party

To be fair there are lots of knives I have bought with design features I never knew I would have liked.

Actually i wouldn’t even know what to request in a design for a knife if it wan’t for all the knives I’ve bought where I had no input in the design.

For example a perfect custom design for me has a bunch of features I learned from disigns that weren’t my own. I would have never come up with a street beat style handle on my own. I would have never known how much I like a butt ring without owning some knives that feature it. I wouldn’t know how much I like a sharpened swedge for pulling cuts.

Without owning all those excellent designs the knife I would come up with would probably be something like the episode where Homer Simpson designs a car.

I acquired my first Phil Wilson, it fits my hand like it was made specifically for me, go figure. Having bought a Big Chris on the forums, it wasn't difficult to know what I wanted when I asked for a custom from him.

Money doesnt give anything a soul.passion doesnt require cpm3v., ball bearings or perfect grind lines.
Sometimes the history of the company, the indiviual maker or even the style of knife speaks to the owner.
Maybe the previous owner was important...maybe the precision with which all of thenidentical how aboutthis little case holding its own next to a one in 17 mnandi.not a custom-superneat designand probably more of a conversation starter fo non knife nuts.
get me wrong-i bought the full pale moon ebony set along with the large insingoninkosi cause I wanted to have unique offerings in the most precisely designsed production knives. The precision speaks to the passion of the maker, not individuality but precision.
Gotta admit, ive got a zillion camillus electrician knives-its a compulsion. I got tickled as could be at a rough rider copy that had a tiny adjustable wrench on it.

I was blown awaybwhen the ratworx guys asked for feedback after their first year and they listened! Every suggestion I had was added. I know it wasnt ME-but I love that they listened. It was cool to see such rapid improvement.

Also- if you guys could quit being such sensitive babies about seriously one of the most silly and fun hobbies ever that would be nice. Knives are fuckin cool. Guns are superduper badass. I wasnt aloud tonget that stupid souvineer pocketknife at the biltmore estates as a kid, my folks said youll shootvyer eye out more than the kind in a christmas story and As an adult I blew up a damn watermelon with that badass wasp knife that triggers knife nerds so bad and finished the fugger off with a 10mm.

Jeez- I take more pleasure in being in atlanta getting supercool stuff at blade every year because I know some eliteist dick doesnt get to caress his precious fuckinperfectly tempered 62.134 rockwell zdp-123-O niner polished to more exacting extremes than the hubble telescope only to bitch that his team of scientists were able to find a nanocunthair off center and an inclusion in the ruby eyes of the dragon.

If you like Z-Hunter and nunchucks go for it guys.
