To further confuse you, I only had five of seven today, steps went elsewhere.:grumpy: Now if I take away their ages I am left with the number of 34.Jim

The number is bigger than 34. In fact it has to be a least 37, if the two step grand kids were the youngest they could possibly be: 1 and 2 years of age. (Highly unlikely they'd be that young.) And the biggest it could be would be 62. Remember, the oldest grand kid is 13, thus the steps couldn't be older than 12 and 13.

So we now know the number has to lie between 37 and 62. Thus our list of known numbers it has to be from is whittled down a bit to 38, 41, 43, 44, 47, 56 or 57. Chances to win are 1 in 7 (twice). I hope the winners give me a cut! :D

Now what does it do if I told you I have two aged 13?:p

Jim
BTW: Phil, one of your numbers is exact. But too early to tell which.

It wouldn't change those calculation even if the steps were both 13, because even if the high number increased to 63 it wouldn't change the spread. Nice try Jim, but you'll have to do better than that to throw us off the scent. We already know the sum of your 5 grand kids is 34, that at least one could be 1 and at least one could be 13. Same goes for your 2 step grand kids. There's just too many wild cards and variables to leave the safety of the range of numbers we know to hold the answer, to make conjectures based on your hints comprised of balloon juice.

How about if I tell you that one number already posted is getting a box?

I checked my original post and did not make it clear, but one guess per member, please.
Jim

I will say that one person is only 1 off.

I re calculated this clue from earlier. The numbers that had been guessed at that point were: 45, 33, 37, 42, 36, 55, 46. Drop off 57 as it was a miscalculation. I believe there would only be six possible legit numbers: 38, 41, 43, 44, 47, 56.

Got me excited with this clue, but each of the six numbers has been guessed. So we're still looking at 38, 41, 43, 44, 47, 56 for a second winner.

Remember IG's 109 guess was close if Jim's age (63) is deducted leaving 46. We just have to know what Jim means by close for this clue to help with making a guess.

Just throwing some rabbit trails out for some to sniff out. Your deductions are right on. :D

Oh by the way guys, I went out side the box to see if I could find some biographical info on James Todd the manufacturer on the net. But couldn't find anything that revealed his grand kids' ages. Sorry. :(

You have worked so hard, I am going to send you one also! Your persistence is admirable.

Jim
I know you bought one, but PM me your address to save me the search and what sizes you want!

My Dad always told me it pays to work hard. :D

Thanks Jim! You sure you're not just trying to buy me off because I'm getting too hot on the scent. ;)

No, not trying to buy you off, it is just funny seeing our rural route man trying to pick one of these boxes up thru his window. Your box (the first) nearly caused him to dislocate a shoulder, now we post warnings with sticky notes on them and put them where he can get out and retrieve without injury.

Still need your address and sizes.
We will tape this one better. :D

Hey Jim,

Ya, these flat rate boxes are sure working out for us knife makers. I've gotten as much as 67 lbs (70s the limit) of steel in them. Maybe send me a mixed box. Just surprise me. Send me what ever you can spare the most. I'll PM you with address. Thanks SOOOOOOO much!!!!

All the best, Phil

One more box to be given away if the exact number is guessed, use Phil's last list of 6 numbers, surely someone wants it.
Jim

So, how many times can we guess?? Now that all the clues are out, I'd have a much better chance!! :D
