Get to know your fellow sharks

Great thread!
I'm Jeff, 29. I'm a certified rehabilitation counselor for the state of GA. I have been a knife nut since, well as long as I can remember. I love being outdoors, but haven't been able to get out as much as I would like lately. I've been married going on 3 yrs. and have two four legged babies.

This is a great thread. Nice "meeting" all of you. My name is Bill (surprise?). I'm 40, married for 11 years, father of two daughters, 10 and 6 and one son, 8. I am a Finance and Purchasing Director for a prosecutor's office. I'm a Cub Scout leader, love the outdoors including hiking, camping and fishing, especially salt water. Other interest include cigars, whisky, traveling, and oh yea knives....

Fellow Scout Leader??? :) Good to meet you brother!

Yes sir. Been doing it for a few years now with my son and his friends. Good meeting you...

Hi all, I'm Walt, and I also am a faculty member in a Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Department at a rather large university. I turned 57 this past Monday, and celebrated 33 years of marriage the week prior. I have a daughter and a son that are 32 and 30 y.o., respectively, and two grand sons that at 12 y.o and 5 mos.o, respectively. Interestingly, I also play at playing the guitar, the trumpet and bagpipes. I also am attracted to the shooting sports, so it seems that many of us have similar hobbies and backgrounds. Collecting guns, musical instruments and knives can be very expensive. I am thinking of putting up my Ameri-Strat on Josiah's trade thread and see what Fiddlebacks I might be able to get for trade. I try to make all of my own ammunition to satisfy my shooting sports hobby, when you can obtain components, but even this is getting very expensive.

I want to shout out to Josiah. I came to a similar epiphany at a similar age in my life. I was chasing my career for a long time, and it was taking a toll on my family (I went to college with a wife and a baby, and my son was born as an undergraduate). I wish you the very best in your journey, and I want to say from experience that your newly established family mission will be worth it. You may not be able to own all of the toys that you want, or think that you deserve at this stage in your life, but the rewards that you will reap will be priceless, and will pay you dividends until the day that you die.

Thanks for sharing your journey, I look forward to mine.

My name is Brian, I am a 48 year old husband and father, and I am just a nut who spends most of his life in the woods with sharp pointy things and a camera...and a lot of the other part staring at a monitor :)

Hi. Excellent to meet you all. I'm, JP, 41 yo ER RN in an inner city acute care hospital. I'm from MA. Spent my 20's and most of my '30's climbing, backpacking, skiing, and playing guitar. Nowadays- as often as I can. Got my first knife when I was 6: 2 blade slip joint from Monroe Hardware in NC. Huge knife geek. Been playing with them ever since.

Nice thread Eric. Yet another Bill here - I live in Texas and enjoy the outdoors. Spend a lot of time distance running; especially love trail running. Carried a knife since I notched my footboard with a Cub Scout knife almost fifty years ago. Giving my wife an EDKarda - maroon micarta over pink liners tomorrow for her birthday (along with the gift she asked for). Wish me luck!

Hi my name is Peter, while I'm new to the forum, I've been on the planet for 62 years (yikes). Been happily married for 34 yrs to my best friend & life long companion who will soon have her very own HB. Currently retired having spent 30+ fast paced years in the medical device industry. Born & raised in PA and now live in SW Florida with homesteads in 8 other states along the way. Passionate about boating, fishing, semi autos, fine wine and now hand made knives. Appreciate all of the knowledge & support that many of you provide on the forum. Laughing, loving, learning & sharing is what it's all about.

Good "meeting" all of you. We're a pretty diverse bunch.

Careful though, I think this thread is Eric's way of distracting us from the Fiddleback Friday thread so he can pull the ultimate shark. ;)

My name is Phillip, I'm a 45 yr old native Texan recently transplanted to Arizona for work. I am a molecular biologist that designs infectious disease diagnostics and uses them to make the national blood supply safe. My wife is also a molecular biologist that specializes in human remains identification and works in the forensic field. No kids. We both enjoy the outdoors and spend a lot of time camping, hiking, kayaking, etc. I've been shooting competitively for about 10 years and am also a gun nut. I also like to fly planes when I can - more of a rating junkie than a $100 hamburger kind of guy. As a side note, I've played bass guitar for over 30 years and in a former life played in late 80s heavy metal band and toured with some that you've probably hear of if you into that kind of thing...now I play a lot of blues and funk (when I have the time) mainly for my own personal satisfaction. Love Fiddlebacks and it is fascinating to see how they have taken off just in the short time I have been paying attention. It was easy to accumulate them to start with, but my want list has become more and more specific so the purchases have dropped off, but don't think I'm not watching. :D

It is great to get some story beyond the avatars. My name is Tod and I am 41 years old, happily married with a 4 year old son. I run a small nonprofit that teaches kids and families primitive skills, tracking, and nature awareness. Basically running around outside, playing with fire, throwing sticks, building shelters and traps, shooting bows and arrows, solving natural mysteries and doing all the things kids naturally love to do if you let them. In my free time I love to surf, do martial arts, play with my son in the woods, etc. I used to play some guitar also until my son was born... He would start crying every time I played so I kind of took that as a sign...

Cool thread here! My name is Allen, 35 and married the angel from my dreams almost two years ago. I have a 5yr old son, 6 year old step son, and a 7 year old step daughter. I recently transitioned to becoming a stay at home dad while building WAS Knives (was are my initials). Born and raised here in Georgia and spent some of my early twenties in Fla. I enjoy most outdoor adventures, but especially home in/around water. Fishing, racing sailboats, river rides, lazy days at the in-laws dock, camping, etc. ( just don't get much time to enjoy those these days). Though I personally don't own a FB at this time, I can be found watching and waiting for my first FB on FB Fridays. This is a great group here! Once again, thank you for all of the warm welcomes and support thus far! Enjoying the simple pleasure of owning/using knives has been with me since I was a young boy, still have my first knife. I remember a saying my Dad had when people would ask him if he had a knife by chance. "Got my pants on don't I". I still have the last knife I gave him for a father's day gift he carried for several years before his passing in 96', just can't convince myself to carry it in fear of loosing it. Sorry, rambling on here. Nice to meet everyone!

Jared here. New to the forums and new to Fiddleback. Not so new to knives but FB has lit a fire for me again. They are just plain beautiful. Economist by day, cottage vendor making ultralight top quilts for backpacking/camping/hammocking by night. Two week in-a-row loser on FBF. Fascinated by the FBF sales model. Bit of a numbers geek so I attached something I have been putting together to try and contribute a meaningful post, rather than just an “I’ll take blah blah blah” or “Crap, missed that one”. Thought this might be a good place to do so. It’s rough, might have errors and if inappropriate I will remove.
