Getting frustrated, Can't get GW at store

"us 'geeks that have nothing better to do that sit in front of our computers', well that IS just sour grapes."

Well, if the shoe fits....

I have no sour grapes- I wanted one knife, I checked online, and bought it. Now I will use it for hunting. If it proves to be as good as marketing, I won't be able to recommend it to my friends because it is simply too much of a pain to get one.

I don't want to "GET INVOLVED WITH OTHER BUSSE COLLECTORS" ! I just wanted to buy a knife, not jump through the extra secret membership ritual to some buddy fan club. Jeez, it's a knife!

Sorry, but I'm not drinking the kool-aid. I just think that if someone wants to buy a product from a manufacturer, they should be able to with the least amount, or a comparable amount (for comparable products) of hassle. No one should have to stay up for hours, days, on end, hitting a refresh button, to buy one. Or pay mark-ups on the secondary market for an item in production. Or join an on-line community and buddy up.

Again, this does not benefit the Busse Company. That is the bottom line. And as I said, I hope they give this matter some attention.

Flawed system???

It works great... and its fun! Don't change a thing!!! ;)

I'm guessing Jerry would disagree with you.

If you have purchased your Busse(IMHO the best blade available) and you have no further buisness...then why are you here, IF not to be associating with other Busse fans

If you don't want to drink with us... Go elsewhere. But you'll be back either way:cool:

From nearly any method of analysis, without question, this distribution method is pathetically flawed. While the "treasure hunt" it creates feeds the manic/compulsiveness of the collectors, the artificial scarcity it creates benefits only a few people with nothing better to do than sit at a computer for hours on end refreshing their screens at the "company store" where they buy multiple items which they can then sell at a profit. The collectors are happy- they have their "scarcity" and higher prices to look forward to. The people that suffer are those that simply want to buy a working knife. Perhaps I am wrong, but it would appear that the Busse firm is not interested in servicing their needs and instead caters to the small but energetic collector community.

A simple solution would be to make, in addition to the "super special, ultra limited edition decoder ring versions", one or two standard models in large enough quantities to make them both readily available to those looking for a user, common enough to reduce their attractiveness to the collectors. Then, instead of distributing them in micro-lots at all hours of the day and night, simply place them all in the channel in large lots.

Perhaps this "treasure hunt" is full of fun and entertainment to a few, but there are many who are not interested in playing the game and just want to buy a freaking knife. By placing more in the hands of those who actually want one for use, instead of completing their super cool magic "full set of all 365 scale color variations", a wider, deeper, customer base would be created which would ultimately benefit the Busse company in many more ways than the current model. I have no doubt that this current situation is putting off many potential customers...

For those that accuse me of sour grapes, let me say that I was very lucky to have checked the company store at the exact moment the knife I was interested in was available and I purchased it. I am not looking to buy all 31 flavors, just wanted one for hunting. I can't imagine any fellow hunters I know who would play this ridiculous game and can only hope that if Jerry Busse is interested in customer, not collector, service, he addresses this situation.

Well, you're quite the presumptuous little bugger, aren't you?

The system puts off anyone but die-hard collectors who don't mind spending endless hours in front of a computer. How could that possibly benefit the Busse Company? Collectors are a very small segment of the possible customer pie. If he is in business to make a profit, which I"m guessing he is, then I fail to see a rational reason why he wouldn't agree....

Nothing more to say to the collector audience. Get back to your refresh buttons so you don't miss that next treasure....

I just dropped an OJ Warden... Perhaps had this guy been checking the store instead of Busse Bashing... ;) :D

A disciple of AnythingDull's???

I meant presumptuous in terms of telling Jerry how to run his business. I think he's doing just fine for himself. But if you doubt me, call the shop and ask to speak to him.

All I hear is boo, hoo, hoo. :D

I guess this is why the store sells out in seconds??? Poor BCS they must be going broke from us poor collectors.

I think this mystique is just what Jerry wants !! The only knife I really want is the skeleton warden. The more the bicker, the better !!

Although I agree with you in general do you really think Busse cares? He sells every knife he can make almost instantly. He owns a business and his bottom line is to make money which I am sure he does. Until he has trouble selling knives don't look for the current system to change.

Darn it, Jaxx!! Why didn't you warn ME? Now I've just missed that one...

Oh well, just part of the game.

Tonight: just missed a Yellow, a Muddy, and now an Orange.

Never say die! I shall succeed (someday).

Why is it so hard to get GWs???

I've been trying for months now... and I can't seem to find any!!! not one... no scraps... nothin'! All I want is one... thats all... is that too much to ask???

:D :D :D :D

What you are saying in general is just dead wrong.
This distribution system works, and I'm the case that proves you wrong. I found Busse in July of 2006 and as of now I have about 50 Busse Knives and 30 of them are the super secret illusive Game Wardens.

Also I don’t sit in front of a computer f5ing. I actually have a demanding job and an equally demanding personal life so I can’t chase knives all day.

Now what you can do (or anyone else) is read Skunks posts and figure out when the knives will show up. The Muddy Warden is the only one that I recall where no notice was given.

Also if you don’t want to buy from the store there is the aftermarket. Usually you can find a Warden at less than 15% above the company store price. Say one was 217 plus 14 shipping for 241.00 add 10% for 265 and add a little shipping. So for maybe 25.00 you don’t have to F5 for three hours to get a knife. I don’t know about your but I can do a bunch of things that are worth way more than $9.00 and hour. One of then is sleep!

Also there are Swamp Rats and Scrap Yard knives; no one owes anyone a Busse. There has not yet been a constructional amendment that says this is a right and not a privilege.

i scored a yellow and bought it, now I've got ANOTHER yellow in my cart! Although I really want a Tiger, or something in a nice black.

I"m sure he is doing well....but he could be doing better.

For those of you who can't read, let me repeat in larger letters: I GOT MY KNIFE. I am not looking to get another. I am not whining because I am not a member of the secret knife society.

I am observing that this method of distribution is flawed. If you don't agree, odds are that you are a collector. Anyone who just wants to buy a knife would find the whole thing a tremendous hassle.

I think any businessman wants to make a profit. This is not a profit maximizing distribution model. If anyone wants to debate that point, I'm listening....Otherwise, I've got better things to do....

Oh, in case you missed it the first two times, I GOT MY KNIFE.

Now, this is really annoying! I have been on the computer for 20 minutes and nothing comes and this guy says he just scored one or two. HOW???
