Giedymins big knives

Wow that last last knife you posted is AWSOME. Love the striped handle and blade shape and size. Perfect

Geidymin,

Tell us about the last one. What kind of steel is it?

Its Nz3 carbon tool steel. Similar to S1 (AISI) but with more carbon. High impact resistance steel i usually use for my big knives. >57Rc.
16.5" overall length. Stabilized maple, vulcanized fiber and SS pins. 1500 hand sanded bevels, spine and handle are polished. Tapered tang. 22oz.
Must say i love those stabilized wood blocs from burl source. Not only they look great but they are very easy to work with.
Regards

There is a distinct Kukri influence noticible in some of your recent handles, that I like quite a lot. I am really impressed by the total package on your work.
The grinds are beautiful. That Chop off that WW posted had a Dan Keffler Comp chopper in it, and your blade beat it. Granted your blade is longer and not to bladesport specs, but none the less, an impressive statement made in wood there.
Are you taking orders again or just making some stuff as you can?

Another excellent blade Giedymin. The handle scales look great too!!

The knife i have from him is indeed a wonderful chopper, but honestly there was no winner in that video to be fair. It was not a contest, i was not going at the same speed each time at all, i was just showing how each could perform. The knife Giedymin made cut through the log about 4 seconds faster but took more swings to do it in that same time. Also there are a lot more factors that come to play as in the variance in the size of the log, knots, technique or lack of etc. etc.

They are both wonderful knives made by great guys, and both chop like a bat out of hell with a vengeance for wood.

Thanks guys. Silverthorn i'm taking orders too, but the waiting time can be long as i never know when my next job at sea will be and the duration of this job is also variable.
I think that Dan Kefflers chopper would beat mines:) Its a whole different blade made by a professional smith out of high end steel. I'm just an amateur starting my adventure with knives, trying to improve my workshop and skills and hopefully one day i will reach this level. For now its more like a hobby.
Seeing my name in one sentence with name of smith like him though, is really something for me.

Your too modest Giedymin :D Your skills are far greater than you give yourself credit for!! You make an excellent knife!!

I look forward to working with you again!!

If you look at the log, you can see how deep, clean and complete the cuts made by your blade are. Thats one of the things that I was looking at, not just depth. That blade chops beautifully.

That blade is sick just like the rest of the ones that you have shared with us. Keep up the amazing work!

hi. I would like to show you my latest camp knife. Stacked leather handle, SS, nickel silver, vulcanized fiber.
