Duncan, and Paul, thanks for the generous GAW, and for all your contributions to The Porch!!:cool: I had no idea when I decided a couple of years ago to start carrying a pocket knife again after a 45 year hiatus that I'd end up in an international knife community that put me in contact with islanders from New Zealand and Outer Hebrides!

However this is NOT an entry, since I don't think I'd appreciate the fantastic knives you gentlemen have put "up for grabs" nearly as much as many other entrants would appreciate them. Besides, my photography "skills" are not "competition-ready", so actually entering would be a futile endeavor indeed. :( But, not wanting to end up on Duncan's shame list, I'll post some photos to show that my photo skills are gradually improving IMHO. Several pics of the first knife I ever owned, a Colonial Forest-Master that I acquired around 1960, follow.

This is my first attempt at getting a pic of a knife I could post to BF. It was taken by the camera built into my MacBook. I taped the knife to my appointment book and held it up in front of the camera lens.

The second pic was actually taken by my wife, using her iPad to photo my scout knife on the kitchen table under a bare incandescent bulb.

The third and fourth photos were taken by me, using my wife's Canon point&shoot camera that she no longer uses. By this point, I had discovered the wonders of natural light, but worried that I didn't have enough coming through the kitchen window, since the camera kept advising me to "Raise the Flash". So the first shot below is with flash, the second without. Neither is wonderful, but the stout was tasty, nonetheless! :p

Lastly, a shot outside in the shade on a sunny day using the aforementioned Canon (it's my camera of choice now). Not a horrible photo, and it was taken before I realized I can sometimes improve my photos after the fact by using software to crop the pic and auto-enhance various features.

Thanks again for the entertaining GAW, and good luck to all the real entrants!! :D:thumbup:

Awesome GAW. Love the fact that you had the 77 as a user. Far too many of the great looking traditional knives wind up as collectors and are never put to purpose (I have my share of those as well :o). Here is my contribution showing a well used Fremont Jack showing off the great Blue Bone:

This is my first ever GAW entry, and I thank you for generosity in giving away a couple of real peaches. Here's my well-used Buck 55 that has spent the better part of 3 years riding in my coin pocket and dicing up fruit.

I love these kind of giveaways. It gives everyone a chance to take out their knives, get creative, and do what we all do best, show them off so that we can all appreciate them! Thank you Duncan and Paul for putting up two excellent prizes. Let's give this one a shot ;)

It' the Böker sportmesser. I haven't really recently wanted to carry much else than this pattern.. just too handy and my kind of knife.

If I win, I will gladly help with the shipping.

Thank you! :)

Thanks guys! This is an old Wolfertz barlow with big blocky saw-cut scales. She's sitting on an old Wheatley fly box.

Thanks for the chance to win such an awesome knife! Not that I actually have a chance with the skill we see around here. I don't really care as it makes looking through these threads just plain awesome!

I've been carrying my TC New Day a lot and we're starting to see a bit of grass poke through the snow so I thought the two were fit for each other:

Wow. The generosity of the members here never ceases to amaze me. You guys really are great folks.

At any rate, this #63 hits my back pocket once in awhile.

* I don't qualify for the give away, but I impressed myself (no big feat) with this photo.

Nice shots, fellas!

Goodness gracious... that Northfield is the most beautiful knife I have ever seen.

Hope the contest is still up by Friday when I'll get home and I'm able to snap a pic of my shinies... maybe my new Scandi will also reach me by then as I doubt I have anything else picture-worthy...

I'm glad I finally found the picture that I took for this thread, as I seem to only remember it at work, and changing phones messed up my photograph files.
This is my dresser top, with fossils/stones I've found/purchased, but the knives are the real showcase. I have my grandfathers knife (the diamond edge), my 8th grade present from my mom (the red Buck), my sons first knife he picked for himself (the silver multi blade), the knife I gave my daughter- the John Lloyd "Zebra knife" that she loved, and its counterpart, which will be my son's on his birthday this June!!

I just like this display, so thought here would be a good place to show it!! It would be great to win- I think my eye is drawn towards the abalone, but my heart to the wood; but it's even better to just share!!

Duncan (and Paul), thanks for your generosity! Here's one of my current favorites - classic, simple and elegant.
