Giveaway #77 Barlow! Nominate your fellow BF Members!

I am very new here, particularly to this sub-forum though I have lurked about BladeForums as a "guest" for a number of years. Being new lends itself to me not being very familiar with just about everyone here. That being said, I credit this sub-forum largely for bringing me out of the shadows so to speak and rekindling my interest in traditional cutlery.

Though I do not know any of you well, something I hope to remedy in the not so distant future, I still would like to get into the spirit of this giveaway and nominate a couple guys that have had some impact on me thus far:

First up, I would like to nominate jackknife. Like many here, I have enjoyed his stories very much, his words have the ability to bring us back to earth in a sense, making us pause and reflect on the simple things in life that have the potential to give us so much joy. There is wisdom in his stories that young dudes like myself can benefit from greatly, should we choose to listen. Thank you, jackknife for your stories and your terrific contributions to this community.

I will make my second nomination in a separate post for the number generator.

My second nomination goes to Jack Black. Though he and I have not had much in the way of personal interaction, I have enjoyed reading everything he contributes to this sub-forum and the kind words that others have for him only reaffirms my nomination.

Thank you Jack Black for all that you do, I look forward to getting to know you better in the future.

If I could nominate everyone here, I would. As I have said before, this is one of my favorite places on the net and its all of you here who make it so. Merry Christmas!

Redsparrow - A guy that I respect and whom has reached out to me. He has taken the time to check in on Adalynn and I'm thankful for his friendship.

Cory Hess - Cory and I are on the same wave length in many ways. I always read his post and appreciate his knowledge and opinion. One of the guys on here I hope to meet one day. I believe he has found his knife in the stockman pattern but I wanted to add his name as he is deserving.

There are so many others that I also feel like I should nominate, but I am going to limit myself to two more nominations, and the first of those nominations is Charlie Waynorth. here are the knives I thank him for:
CharlieWaynorth.jpg
Charlie deserves a large portion of the thanks for my two forum knives that provide tangible evidence of my connection to this community, plus Charlie's direct generosity is to thank for my lovely Case Seahorse. But it is the forum knives that are really the reason I want to nominate Charlie. I love the forum knives, and I love the way they allow me to feel connected to people here. Ultimately I feel like I don't often have a lot of value to add to discussions here on the porch, so I mostly just read, but the discussion and process and purchase of the forum knives gives me an opportunity to really be a full participant, and it is largely thanks to Charlie that I have that opportunity.

And finally I want to nominate Barry GunstockJack, because those forum knives I love so much could never have been if not for Barry. Plus I love having the opportunity to chat with Barry and Charlie at the OKCA show in the spring :)

I have a couple of Canadian candidates I'd like to propose. Both have been generous to me with their time, their interest, and their knives!
One is itsasportbar; Ken K always posts fascinating pairs of knives, usually including an exceptional Alox piece, and always has a kind word.
The other is in my next post...

My second nominee from North of the Border is Crazy Canuck! I'll never forget how, when I had just joined BF, Mike gave me some advice because I was getting frustrated by "double posts" about 1 time out of ever 3 posts; I don't think I've EVER had a double post since following Mike's advice!:D Subsequently, Mike has provided me with much useful info, kind comments, and even a gorgeous Case humpback stockman. Unfortunately, he's not posting as regularly as he used to.

There are lots of people nominated by others who I was intending to nominate. I then thought I should second those nominations, but that would be a LONG series of individual posts to make sure each person would get added chances to win! But, now, with such a long thread, one additional post doesn't help a candidate's chances that much (moving from 1 out of 4 to 2 out of 5 is a substantial percentage increase, but moving from 1 out of 120 to 2 out of 121 is insignificant). So now I can just acknowledge in a single post my admiration of some of the folks with whom I've had positive personal experiences of one kind or another! Below are nominating posts with which I completely agree.

I'd like to nominate Randy (rredden). ...
Glenn
I'd like to nominate Bob the bigbiscuit! ...
Randy and Bob are two major inspirations to me, for a variety of reasons. (I miss Randy's old sig line about "better or bitter"; that was a good attitude adjustment reminder for me each day!)

GuestWho101...

I'm going to nominate -WhittlinAway.

He was very generous and gracious with a knife I've always wanted and has been a good source of wood carving knowledge.
...

I would like to nominate r8shell 👍
...

Really cool giveaway and awesome knife! I'd like to nominate Pertinux. ...

I experienced great generosity from two wonderful members here, jc57 and Will Power, that's why I nominate both. This very post is my nomination for jc57 ......

........ and this post is my nomination for Will Power.
...

I would also like to nominate Gevonovich.

When I think about the porch Jake (supratentorial) always comes to mind. ...

Modoc ED - he doesn't suffer fools, tolerate any nonsense, or have patience for poor thread etiquette...but he is a kind and generous man under that tough exterior.

...
The person I would nominate is a moderator of the Porch, Peregrin aka Gary
...
Plus with a name like Gary, what’s not to like :)
G2

...
I'd like to expand the list of nominees to include Wurrwulf (Shawn). His enthusiastic, ever-positive posts—often accompanied by beautiful photographs—are a delight to read and brighten my day.

I would like to nominate Half/Stop. ...

...
In addition, I nominate the member who actually DID bestow upon me that RR yellow half hawk... Neko2.

Knarfeng...

Hold the front page.
Disaster Down Under as Board Shorts
Exceed Speedo Limit.

Thank you for the generous gesture JITDC!

I'd like to nominate Ghostwalker54. He is a great guy here that frequents the Chris Reeve threads. I started talking to him about five months ago on the forum. Been talking with him ever since. He is a great guy that has a heart of gold. It's nice to sit back and take some time to unwind and relax here on the forum. You meet some really interesting and nice people here with wisdom and knowledge for us all.

I have met a lot of folks here on the forum that have had a lot of very good advice and information to share with us all here on the forum over the years. Some of those folks had knifemaking down to an artform or science. It really blows my mind what I see some of those people make. interesting stuff.

Wow, what an awesome GAW! I happened to notice that I was nominated by Aias and Railsplitter, two fine members amongst the many I have had the pleasure of knowing here, so I'll just return the favor in kind and nominate them. There are far too many others for me to choose from. You all are a great bunch here and I do stop by and lurk a little from time to time.

@ JITDC, if by some chance I am chosen, please draw another name, as I have far to many knives already. Also, we are on the cusp of a move, and I will not have internet for about a month while in temporary housing and it would be terribly embarrassing to be drawn and never respond, it is a very fine knife you are gifting here

Good luck all! :)

While there are many deserving members here I'm going to have to give my vote for Bob (BigBiscuit).

My vote goes to JR88FAN one of the most generous members I've met here on BF. He's big into traditional knives right now, especially wharncliff blades.

I'm blown away by the response so far everyone! Wonderful comments and fantastic stories to read. Thank you all for taking the time to nominate your friends. We'll keep this open until 12/28 so feel free to continue adding whomever you see fit. Merry Christmas to all!
