Giveaway #77 Barlow! Nominate your fellow BF Members!

GuestWho101 - I received not only a gift of a knife from him, but friendship. Nothing like getting a message out of the blue that makes you smile. Thanks, Dee!

I would like to nominate GuestWho101 (Dee) who has put up with me when I was getting into the traditional arena, and asking him a million questions :)

Thank you very much my friends!!

Forgive me, JITDC!! When it comes to these type of things (picking & choosing) among friends, I can be pretty stubborn in my decision making as I want everybody to win :o. Heck, some would say downright selfless. But can you blame me? You've seen for yourself how good & wholesome these fine folks can be. So much in fact, it inspires me to be the BEST me everyday :).

So with that being said, I would like to nominate my three amigos.....

RDaneel - Dean takes some of the most beautiful photos you'll ever see. He's greeted me with open arms since my arrival & has always been wonderful friend.

pmek5 - Tim is as genuine as they come. Has a heart made of gold & one of the coolest avatars ever to graze the internet.

5K Qs - The man can cook, talk, & has enough knives or blades (whichever you prefer) to open a retail front. But can you guess where he keeps 'em? In his pockets !! Now who wouldn't want a guy like their team ? Thanks Gary for the food, knives, and converse! I look forward to talking to you each day we post.

And no worries, I understood it's only one knife and three of them. So if this post is drawn..... EVERYBODY wins!!! They can interpret that as they may. ;) :D

Thanks again you guys for all the great times & friendly banter!!! With you all there's never a dull (<--- there goes that joke again, Gary :p) moment.

I nominate jasonpaulwest. I see lots of great contributors here, and I do appreciate all of your posts, but I feel for my fellow loners. Jason, just because you're a loner doesn't mean you're alone. I hope you win this one my friend!

Sorry for being late to this :o

A very generous giveaway JITDC :)

Flatblackcapo, Paul H, Chin, Dean, Glenn, Meako, GT, afishhunter, Harry, Duncan – Wow, thanks guys, you have me blushing, but I am grateful for your kind words, and so honoured to be able to call you, and many others here, my friends. We really have the best bunch of people here on The Porch. From the moment I first began posting here, people have been so kind and welcoming, and generous, and sometimes patient, with me. I wish I could send every single one of you a Lambsfoot and a bottle of Henderson’s Relish! :D I find myself thinking of my friends here all the time.

Charlie Waynorth and Pertinux were among my first traditional friends. When I come across some tiny piece of cutlery knowledge, which I think nobody else would even be interested in, I think of Charlie! Someone who never seems bored by the obscure cutlery ephemera I find so fascinating and insist on sharing with him, and whose passion for old knife patterns is as timeless as the man himself. I struck up an immediate and comfortable friendship with Pertinux, whose knowledge of this forum is encyclopaedic, and whose posts are always a treat to read, with a contagious quality for the knives she loves and enjoys, and incredible insight and intelligence.

Another early forum pal was Elliott (Blues), a fellow (former) climber, who gifted me my first Gold membership, and whose regular presence here I still miss.

Duncan, a great friend from the beginning, such a lovely, generous man. Duncan gifted me my first GEC knife – his own favourite knife! – the BF 2011 forum knife. I spent only a day together with Duncan and his lovely wife Sue, but I think it will stay with me forever, and whenever I visit Sheffield, which I do often, they are with me.

I’m pleased to see that Stich442 has been posting a little recently, Pete gifted me my first Peanut, a Ka-bar he had used and treasured, and I have missed his photos, and his posts about his fishing trips and family life. It’s decades since my own kids were young, and I enjoy hearing you younger fellers post about your kids, it brings the memories flooding back, and we have so many lovely young families here.

Paul Hilborn is another longstanding friend, a kind and generous feller, warm and (unlike myself) without a hint of curmudgeonliness! His posts have often moved me, to tears as well as laughter.

Carl! What would this forum be without him?! :D I was glad that he and Dan (SilentHunterStudios), another great guy, were able to meet up a few times :)

Meako, he may come across as daft as a brush (;)), but whenever I hear of an act of bravery on the radio, it’s Meako I think of

So many, many great people here, so many fine friends, it’s impossible to list them all. I am just pleased to be among you :)

Once again, I appreciate all the kind words, but I would rather someone else have that knife. There are so many here deserving of a great Christmas gift, but I am going to nominate Randy Redden. Like many here, he’s had some ups and downs this year, but he’s taken everything with great grace and spirit, and been selfless in his support for other forum members. I could nominate dozens of others, hardly a day goes by here without some act of kindness or generosity, but I’ll nominate Randy.

Y'all are too kind. :o

Thanks for the giveaway, JITDC-- a fine, fine knife it is

I am surprised, and encouraged, by how many forum members mentioned and/or posting here that I can't immediately place; this speaks well of the ongoing attraction of traditional knives, and the robustness of our small online community here.

I would list a few worthy forum names myself, but I think we all know that Meako is going to run away with this once we come to the swimsuit portion of the competition. ;)

Wait! What?? This is the first mention I've seen of swimsuits!!
The nominees are wonderful folks in so many ways, but I do NOT want to be a witness to this!

300Bucks (although lately seems he spends most of his time in the Buck forum) for his knowledge of Everything Buck, especially the 300 series when questions arrise.
I second this! I wanted to add him but wasn't sure since I really only see him over on the Buck forum...great guy with a wealth of knoweledge to share and share he does.

Better later than never, if I could, I'd nominating each and every one of the finest members of this great forum.
Following the GAW rules I put few of members who touched me one way or another, Duncan who welcomed me when I joined in with a GAW knife before I even realized where I've landed, Marksharp and Evan who took to a step towards knife making, fulfilling their (and my) dream, Jack whose vast knowledge and generosity never stop amazing me, Charlie who actually made huge change in traditionals manufacturing and collecting, Will who I enjoy his insights, Gvonovich and Gary ofcourse and Fausto who I miss a little since he seldom show in here. Oh and Paul Mason whose knives are perfect in every way. I do appologize to all whom I didn't mention.

I appreciate new members* with passion, and I think he would love this knife. *(new to traditionals)

Modoc ED - he doesn't suffer fools, tolerate any nonsense, or have patience for poor thread etiquette...but he is a kind and generous man under that tough exterior.

I would like to second this nomination. Ed's generosity is known to me as well, and I hope that I will be ale to match it. Following his example has given me great pleasure over the years.
I hope you win Ed!

Hey! Phillll stole one of my 'l's !

Seriously, thanks and I don't feel worthy of this nomination. There are so many others who contribute so much. Generosity of knowledge, friendship and knives abound.

It's hard to single any out, but I'd like to endorse you Markesharp, for your talent and dedication, and also pertinux, who one day, out of the blue, gifted me "George" :)

I did not want anyone to feel left out so I was hesitant to participate. Lots of good folks here. Much to my surprise , my name came up .... and it wasn't posted by my mom (I checked ;) ). Your posts meant a lot to me. I recommend Campbellclanman, Tilley Knife, neal70, and r redden... In addition... as much as I would like the knife (and I would like it a LOT), I ask that if my name is chosen that the prize goes to one of these fine fellers on my behalf. Their friendship is the greatest gift.

I'm humbled to have been nominated by Greg. Along with the long list of very deserving people already nominated, I would like to add HeathH to the drawing. He doesn't post often, but he was a great help to me when it came time for me to mod my first knife.

Thank you kindly for the nomination! I am new to traditionals and have been indulging in my passion with great zeal. I would definitely love this knife. I'll even take part in the swimsuit competition ;)

Sorry GT but I have already entered you in the bikini competition.:D Pictures to follow.
Randy, you made me laugh, and my wife laughed even harder (although she IS kind of interested in seeing the pictures)! :D:D
