Glock 26 Vs. PM9

Just my 2 cents--if your going with a belt holster, I'd get the Glock. If you are restricted to using a pocket or ankle holster, I'd get the PM9.

Kahr's carries easier for me as well, and I have had all kinds of Glocks. Kahr's fit my hands perfectly. My Kahr's ARE very accurate!!

True story: I was at a gun show in CT in 1998, and Kahr was there. Mind you I had been reading all kinds of articles about these guns, so I was thrilled to see them in person AND to be able to shoot them. One of the Kahr guy tells me that if I shoot this target that is about the size of a dime, he will give me $50 off a new Kahr. Yes, I did shoot that dime sized target!! I went out and bought an Elite 98 w/ night sights shortly after that. And then I traded in my Firestar .40 for a Kahr Elite 98 in .40 as well. I have been hooked on Kahr's ever since!

I am not saying that Kahr's arent good weapons. But when they come out and put out an add in Guns & Ammo and American Handgunner claiming to be the best CCW pistol on the market, I start to look at them very very introspectively and wonder... The bottom line is this, the Kahr cost more than the Glock. In value and terms of ergnomics reliabilty and toughness, there is just no comparison. Some folks just dont like the way glocks feel in hand, if that is the case, by all means, get something else. But then again, i say the same thing about glocks vs sigs and hk. a sig and a hk are very nice weapons, but there is no way in hell they are workth twice what a glock is and no way in hell they will outlast a glock. facts are facts.

Thank you TKC. Glad someone can see my drift. I am nowhere as well versed in knives as I am in firearms and i have owned almost 100 firearms in my days and as far as a pistol goes, the Glock isnt beaten. By ANYTHING, as far as reliability, functionality, and ruggedness goes.

Glocks fit my hand very poorly and their natural point of aim, for me, is way off. I owned a Glock 22 and it was a fine firearm, but I was not impressed with it's accuracy, and combined with not fitting my hand, I got rid of it. My Sigpro didn't cost twice what my Glock cost, and it is every bit the Glock's equal in reliability and much more accurate. It also fits my hand like a glove. I think when you put something up as the "end all, be all" anything, you are doing yourself a disservice by eliminating other options that might just be better, if you gave them a chance. Just my $.02.

Oh yeah, my favorite concealed carry piece is my S&W Bodyguard Airweight. Now that's reliable.

Well my range buddies tonight were both shooting Glock 23's while I was shooting a P40.

Glock triggers are def lighter (about 3 lbs), but the Kahr def wasn't bad. I'm pretty small framed, and I see myself having an issue carrying a Glock.

I shot better groups than both of them with this P40, its one of the most natural feeling guns I've ever shot. I'm definitely sold on the Kahr.

As far as price goes, the CW9 retails for about $400, that's less than a Glock by about $75.

I have decided to buy a Glock 19 as a range gun though. The little Kahr is a nice carry piece, but any real time on it and my hand will be sore. A full sized glock with a much higher magazine capacity will make a great range weapon and will probably become my "truck gun" as well.

I work in a shirt and tie every day, and the only way for me to carry at work is going to be an ankle holster. I'm gonna try out the Kahr, if it doesn't work I'll prob just get a .380 Keltec for work. I can be dismissed from my job for carrying a firearm (work at a bank), though I would get a warning first. I'm willing to lose my job to save my life or a coworkers life if it comes to that, so I will be carrying. I just have to be sure nobody sees the weapon.

Those are my thoughts for the night, I took my target home from the range, I'll get some pics up soon. I haven't shot a pistol in about 5 years and I outshot both of my buddies tonight. I'm glad to see my grandfathers training from when I was a kid is still working.

i think the ads are correct the poly kahrs are the best edc carry pistols around, if the show fits.........

There are things called "belly bands", for very discreet gun carry. Not the quickest to get to if you need it. It was just a thought. There are also "tuckable" holsters; where you tuck your shirt in around the holster. I am trying to help with other options besides the ankle holster route.

Get yourself a good 1911 in .45 ACP. It will carry flatter than most other semi-autos plus give you a longer barrel. A good IWB holster from Alessie or Bulman and a good belt will be the cat's meow.

A 1911 is leaps and bounds larger than a CW9 when carrying. I like the 1911, but it is definitely not the carry gun for me.

TKC- I've seen those belly bands before. They look like a good way to hide a pistol, but it seems like it would be way too hard to draw from.

I plan on carrying in a "tuckable" holster, but even then with my work attire the gun would print pretty easily. I'm debating on buying a Kel Tec P3AT and just keep it in a pocket holster for work.

Which leads to my next problem, now I want a P3AT for work, a CW9 for normal clothes days, and a Glock 19 as a range/truck/home gun. That's about $1k in pistols that I'm trying to convince myself I need. These things are worse than knives!! :)

i carry a 26 on my ankle, 19 on the hip. Do yourself a favor and practice with the gun you carry. If you carry the Kahr all the time, you should practice with it way more than your glock.

Absolutely. I will run my carry gun as much as I can. I just want a 19 for those days with the guys that we plan to run through a ton of ammo.

There is a range by us that do some low pressure competitions as well, I think the 19 would be better for those days.

How do you dress with the 19 and what type of holster do you wear? I'm a pretty small guy (5'10" 155lbs), there isn't much room for me to hide a firearm. Any ideas would be great, thanks.

I use a comp tac ghurka IWB and simply wear an untucked polo or button down shirt and the 26 in a galco ankle rig. Now, i'm a big guy, but my training partner is about your size and conceals the same guns with the same gear and occasionally a IIIA safariland vest using the same untucked polo/button down method. Sometimes he wears a northface-style fleece outer vest for added concelment. Just buy your shirts a little larger and you'll be fine.

Fortunately the current "in" look is very conducive for concealed carry as is the fact that everyone and their mother carries all kinds of PDA's and cell phones on their belt. No one thinks twice about minor bulges if you happen to bend the wrong way at some point.

Also, people are oblivious. I tested this with my cousin. We were chilling one saturday and at the time he had never seen me carry but we're both gun guys. I took off my cover garment because I was getting a bit warm and it took him a full 45 minutes to notice i was wearing my glock 19.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. I was at a fair one time and was wearing a Glock tshirt I won in a contest some years ago. While there, I ended up seeing that a guy was carrying a Glock IWB. When I walked by I noticed he made a point to look at my shirt. I just calmy said "How do you like yours?" and he seemed really shocked that I made him. Everybody else around was completely oblivious.

As far as the belly band, I was thinking of that for your work situation, that's all. Like I said, it would NOT be quick to get to if you needed it..... But, I was thinking of your work situation. I wore mine to work as well, I wear scrubs. And ankle holster was out. It was just a thought. I carry my Kahr IWB in a Blade-Tech holster and 2 magazines on the weak side.

the belly band works fine if you like the feel of it. i have never used it because i have not found it to be very comfortable and if you are in need of drawing fast and you have a sweatshirt or a button down shirt, you are not going to be able to draw fast. i carry my G26 in a IWB galco holster and can get to my 26 fast if i need to. G26 all the way;)

Heh, I was actually robbed at work today. Two guys came in, jumped my counter and emptied out my tellers cash boxes. I didn't even have time to pull the OC spray from my pocket, much less a firearm from a belly band.

Today was definitely eye opening for me. I found out exactly how I would react in that type of situation, which was actually very well. I decided not to try to fight these guys, but even if I did just a simple pull from the pocket would have taken some work.

I think I'm going to buy a P3AT and a pocket holster for work. The Kahr will be for all times not at work.
