...Common sense tells me that posting items for another person, who is NOT a paid member, is unfair, and just plain wrong. The Gold members all stepped up to the plate to help support this place, and allowing non members, or non gold members to post their items for sale thru another member is circumventing the rules...

"Agreed Cougar. Unfortunately, it is one of the moderators who is really being nasty, and he's pretty much known for that..."

Mike, I don't understand why there is a question about this.

lifter4Him, if you think someone is "Nasty" you should say who it is; not beat around the bush.

Actually I have received E-mails saying they like my honesty. :)

I like Dann and Kin, but Kin was wrong; PERIOD; he didn't ask FIRST.

You must be lifting too much weight.

Like KWM said; "I have never known Rick to pull his punches. Direct is what you are going to get."

Deal with it.

...I apologized to Nakano for being verbally abusive towards him, but honestly, the 1st thing I thought when I read his post was, "WTF? You posted someone else's knives for sale?"

Maybe I was off tangent there, and didn't mean for it to be the 'tip of the spear' and take away from his gripe...it just seemed really weird to me at the time.

It seems that other Gold Members felt the same way, so maybe it wasn't so weird after all...

And yes, I'm the one that posted the ebay links to my 'For Sale' ads, but being my first sale ad, at the time I really didn't know better...I do now.

RGRAY, I've never known you, or any of the other moderators, to be (really) nasty, and now isn't the time to start... ;)

lifter, I couldn't agree more...you've been there, you've seen it, ditto here...implosion starts within. Hopefully we're (both) not adding to the vacuum.

My read is this; GB&U is a great place to pass feedback about our transactions to other forumites, so they can decide if they want to do business with either of those people in the future.

As such, there will be 'Good, Bad, AND Ugly' posts made...but it doesn't have to be a freaking little bitch fest each time.

So, taking Cougar's words to heart, and acting like many/most of the 'elder' BFC members, I'm going to refrain from adding my .02 worth to GB&U threads in the future unless they directly affect me, or unless I have an 'atta-boy' to add.

CODE 3, as much of a wanker as I think you are, the gist of what you said makes sense, though what I think you meant to say was, paraphrased, "We're all adults here, and as such should be able to regulate ourselves within reason, without having to adhere to a very strict set of rules" (At least I hope that's what ya meant to say)

In summary, I believe that Nakano felt he had a legitimate beef, and he may well have, but somehow it got lost in the noise level here...

Nonetheless, a deal is a (done) deal when both parties say it's a (done) deal...and everything leading up to that point is just wishful thinking...

Presentation of the arguement being paramount to it's acceptance within the meandering herd, I think we'd all be well served if we were just a tad bit politer with our complaints, should we have any.

Sheldon

Your exacly right on what you think I meant to say.

As for me being a 'wanker', I really don't care what you or anyone else thinks of me. I can be blunt at times, but like Rick, thats my style, and thats what you get with me. I know we have had our run ins in the past, but IMHO, I think you have mellowed, and I enjoy reading your posts now, mainly because you usually interject things that others may not be aware of, or even think of at the time.

For the record, I dealt with you in a professional manner regarding the e bay links, and I appreciate the fact that you didn't give me a hard time for doing my moderator's job. I know you didn't know the 'rule' about commercial links, and now that you do know, I can trust you not to do it again, and act accordingly in the for sale forums.

Thanks again.

So do I RANT ON about my TRUSTING another Member of BF to do me a FAVOR and evaluate two knives for me and place a FAIR value on them, only to get screwed.

Then it's me to be told to LIVE with it while JARED MOON, also known as SUNSHINE flames my butt, posts LIES, refuses to answer ANY of my mail,Bombs me with hundreds of JPEGS of my own photo, and then has the BALLS to trade those knives for a very SWEET DEAL to another formite.

Why should I HAVE TO live with it? Why should Jared still ENJOY his membership to BF? He claimed to have sent a Gerber 600. There is another formite that now has the GERBER 400. Jared claimed a tip was broken, there is another formite who now owns both knives, TIPS INTACT

But I get flamed for putting it here on GB&U? WHY should it go to "Whine and Cheese"? Because I refuse to live with BEING SCREWED? That's unfair. Is it because I am just a PEON here?

Maybe there DOES need to be some better defined rules, and maybe some SERIOUS punishment when another formite is discovered to have CLEARLY taken advantage of another's TRUST

I keep hearing: "all you have on BF is your Reputation". Well, when that REPUTATION takes a hit, all you can do is Rant, whine, piss and moan. NOTHING ELSE seems to help.........

Rant over. AND COUGAR, I named names, what is gonna change???
Ira

Ira-the only thing that is going to change if you keep injecting your hard luck story into everyone elses threads is - the people who like and respect you will have a harder and harder time liking and respecting you.You should really let this one go Wolf.If not just for your benefit, for every one else's as well.

Ok, as much fun as it might be, a wiseass answer here would just prolong this thread and wont serve any purpose. Unfortunately, I have been just as much a part of the problem here as anybody.
Allow me to just say that things are not always as they appear.

Mel, you have the right idea, I'm gonna follow your lead.
RGray, since myself and my 2 sons are all lefties, I'm gonna have to unite with you ;)

Dave

The name's Rick.

Dave, I didn't expect you to wuss out. :(

Did you call me nasty or not?

Tell me why you think it was ok for Kin to post a for sale ad for a friend before asking Spark?

In my book; you just lost a lot of credibility.

What do your boys think?

Sheesh ... I am tempted to move this whole thread to Whine & Cheese, or change the header to "Miscellaneous Nonsense On Every Subject Under The Sun All Mixed Together In One Big Wondrous Thread" ...

Wolfmann, you were not flamed for posting your transaction here, not much anyway -- you were flamed for posting essentially the same message over and over and over yet again, and spamming it into entirely irrelevant threads (like, for instance, this one).

If you ever do a trade with another member and you are not satisfied with what he sends you and you want to send it back, and he refuses that, then you can say he screwed you, and if the complaint doesn't lead to a resolution you can ask that he be banned (probably won't have to ask).

Although you say you were dissatisfied with the multitool you traded for, you decided to give it away rather than send it back -- you chose not to take the natural recourse (and the only recourse allowed by law).

You were, of course, still entitled to gripe. You did. You are not entitled to keep spamming it everywhere forever more. Everybody read it, everybody made up their own minds what they think of Sunshine (and of you) and everybody who ever considers dealing with Sunshine (or you) in the future will read that thread. That's enough.

rgray, believe me, I don't wuss out. I tried to take the high road. There's probably better than 100 BF people that have met me at shows, the last one at Timonium,Md., maybe they could tell you I'm not the wuss type.

If you want to keep it going or have any real questions, email me at lifter4Him1@aol.com

Just saw your edit. I wont post that reason because a friend told me something in confidence and asked me not to. My honor to my friend is more important to me than what you think of me.
As to my boys, are you asking about the 20 year old,165 lber,Mike, who won his weight class at the Deadlift Nationals this year, or the 22 year old, Shawn, 198 lber, who won his weight class at the state powerlifting meet? They think just fine of me, thanks.

Now as for the opening sentence that GLOCKMAN emailed to me. I read that as him definitely wanting the 3 items I had posted. And that he would trade me the folder he had offered if I still had those said 3 items. It' s not that complicated I don' think. Nor is there any miscommunication. Or am I missing some hidden message in there?

I think it's just the problem with dealing with several thousand people. I understand your frustration though.

I probably will not renew my Gold Membership because Im tired of dealing with "lowballers", teenagers, whiners, people who want something for nothing, and people who settle a deal and then say "I have to check to make sure my friend still has the knife you want"...and many many others.

Every time I post something for sale, 1 out of 10 inquiries might be a serious one. The rest come from ignorant people that think they can outsmart you. Personally I find this offensive.

Well, I never purchased a Membership, but, I have placed a Sebenza up for trade and wanted a couple things and I was specific with some wiggle room.

I mentioned an MT Tachyon and ? Or a Benchmade [steel handled] Model 45 or 48, two of them or one and a ? Or an Emerson P-Sark and a ?

So, I get an E-mail last night. An offer of a BM 47, which is a newer Ti-handled drop point Tanto, $100.00 at my Local Dealer and a Busse neck knife.

For a flat ground Sebenza with pocket scuffs [no scratches] on the Ti body and never been re-sharpened and does not need sharpened.

Talk about being low-balled.

It's nothing new, really. Had a Snody up for sale as well as Nealys in the past, people offering 4 Spydercos or three plain, vanilla Benchmades...

So it goes...

...So, in no particular order...

CODE 3, Roger that... :)

lifter, ditto above... :)

RGRAY, c'mon buddy, let it go already eh? :(

wolfmann601, ditto above... :(

Cougar Allen, you're still my 'hero', just don't tell Ken C...ok? ;)

Everyone else, while nodding my head, and mumbling to myself, "Yeah, whatever you said..."

So, sez I, "Shutter down Capt'n., she's overheatin'..."

"Nothing to see here folks, move along..."

Mel

YO, BROTHER;) ;) ;)

Cougar: Message recieved:)
Sheldon: Peace;)
Troy: I hear ya;) ;)

To all on BF, WE ARE ALL better than this!!!

GD PATRIOTS!!!!!.............Ira

This thread has been hijacked and thrown off to another subject. But I will add this. The fact that the items posted that were not made known as to its owner did not change at all, before or after I was initiated contact by GLOCKMAN for his desire for them. He was clearly made known of that from my very first response to him:

Quote: "All knives you listed belong to a friend. But I can try to help facilitate a trade for you".

I have already stated that Spark was satisfied with my response to his inquiry earlier in this thread. If any of the moderators who posted here are so vocal concerning this subject or Spark himself felt a need to address this issue, then it could have been done way back when levels of membership for the Trade forums were first initiated. It is no secret that from the beginning knives and other items were being posted for others who may not have been members. So those who feel a need to voice their opinion on this subject can simply start another thread. I' m sure, as moderators you will agree.

And for the record I will say this. I have never posted any merchandise on these forums for any individual who was/ is a member of BFC. Additionally, the items I posted that is part subject of this thread belongs to an individual who has NO internet access whatsoever.

Nakano

Generally, a dead horse (over the course of 3 to 5 days) has little left by way of skin, meat, and innards. Hence, only bone and hair remain.

Is there really a need to beat this one further ?

To quote one of our infamous regulars on this Forum. . .

I remain. . .totally

Ira, FYI, I just bought a SS Spyderco Hunter in great shape on eBay for $16.50 & Target stores sell the Gerber 400 for $40.
:p ;)

The horse hasn't been beat, it's been ignored. Back on point, the "selling knives for a friend" BS is nothing but smoke & misdirection intended to draw attention away from Nakano's gripe & guess what... it worked. Unless I'm missing something, what I see is a deal in progress that was abandoned when Dann decided to sell/trade his knife to someone else w/o notifying Nakano that he was withdrawing his offer. OK, what did I miss?

BTW, the concept of "they're mine & I can do anything I want with them" goes only so far before it becomes a self-absorbed, f*** you, attitude.
