If my contributions to this thread make anything clear, I hope it's how much I love what I affectionately think of as "big dumb donkey knives." :D

Friends, meet the king of big dumb donkey knives: the Artisan Cutlery Proponent in brass. 3.85" blade...14.7 oz. Yes, almost a full pound of oddly proportioned brassy goodness. If you gave the average Medford a liner lock and knocked 85%-90% off the price, it would feel a lot like this: D2, 0.18" blade stock, 5/8" thick handle, nifty machining, and love it/hate it funky appearance.

I don't buy knives with brass scales for practical reasons. I love brass and I can't wait to see more of the patina that's already forming on this monster. :) The retailer (non-BF supporting :() who sells this version also offers two other exclusives, bronze and copper -- but the widely available G10 models are somewhat more practical, at ~10 oz.

The knife I own that's most like this one is the Kizer Sheepdog XL, which is similarly ludicrous but can't double as an anchor for small watercraft. :D Here's a comparison shot with a Grip included for good measure:

Another member and i were discussing XL folders today which prompted some comparison shots of the XL voyager, Large Luzon, Frenzy, and Police 4 LW for size reference . While the Police and even the Frenzy carry well for their size, the other 2 aren't exactly practical EDC folders but fun around the house Nonetheless. Coincidentally i ended up with the Luzon in my pocket :p.AEA75F6A-1AF3-435F-BDBD-0E19EDD68C4C.jpeg 23844AF2-9664-4BAD-A7AC-CDEFA2439C02.jpeg

Luzon is a liner lock correct?

it is a liner lock and also has a secondary safety as well. The Luzon is the largest and most affordable of the lot and implores budget materials such as a GFN handle and clip, along with 8cr steel although ok for the low price point imo. It flips well with its hefty blade and rides on bearings surprisingly. Lots of fun!

I just got another large folder today. I'd forgotten what a big boy the Police 4 is despite the fact that I already have one in G10 and K390.

With a 4 7/16" blade it actually kinda dwarfs its brother Endura, which is not exactly a small knife either.

The latest XL or rather XXL according to Boker o_O. Kalashnikov auto with a 4.75” chunk of D2 and 10.5” overall. Not normally a big Boker fan but this one is solid and well i just couldn’t resist :p. Decent snap and its actually ground fairly thin. For nearly 6.5 oz it carries deceptively well too . (PM2 for size reference)

My collection of jumbo knives has been stable for a little while, but since I'm now open to uncoated D2 I picked up another monster: the 5" Daggerr Knives Vendetta, easily my most metal knife. :D

Not a lot of production 5" flippers out there (I can only find two others, the Cuda Maxx and CS Luzon), and I love that the Vendetta really cranks the ludicrousness dial to 11. Good taste and subtlety were abandoned early on in the design process.

Fit and finish is about what I expected, or maybe a bit better, across the board. The edge could use a de-burring out of the box and the backspacer fitment is cosmetically mediocre -- but the action is great, lockup is solid, ergos are sound, and its slimness should make it nicely pocketable (especially for a 6 oz. knife). I'd happily pick up another Daggerr knife, and if you want a jumbo flipper with better steel than the Luzon for less money than a Cuda Maxx this one might just be your huckleberry.
