Goncz Titanium Knife / Flashlights

Rothrandir,

You on the right track, but You removed lot of material, that is a critical mass and can serve as a heatsinker, therefore save the walls as much as You can, also try to have the light source point to reach into the reflector, so that You can capture much of the light.

Well, if You want to build couple of them, than we can supply you some reflectors and modules.

But if you going into business, than You are on Your OWN!

The market is big so give a shot, and you will get some flacks, the way we do, but that is part of the beast. There are bunch of cowards, asholes that they think that they are important and they know somethink about flashlights... Just ignore them and if they challenge you take them on and if it takes, chase them down and have a conversation with them. Do not take any insults from any body!!! Be proud of Your product and just march on!!!

Make Your products original, otherwise you find up in litigation for infringing on intellectual property and can be costly and You should have a war chest ready as we do!!!!

Good Lock!!

mr. goncz, with all due respect i think i'd venture to say that i know every bit as much about luxeons and heatsinking them as you do...likely more.

i am a well known modder on cpf, and take particular pride on my heatsinking. this module in specific offers better heatsinking capabilities than over 99% of other flashlights in existance.
for a more detailed writeup and more pictures please look here.

the module was designed to offer as much heatsinking as realistically possible, and i'd bet my lathe it does a better job than your modules.
as far as focal positioning i have that taken care of too. the led is at the precise height so that the head can be adjusted in either direction to focus the light. furthermore the heatsink offers a built-in "reflector" that pushes a little light forward when the head is off and protects it from impact, this wasn't meant to be used as the primary reflector however. you can read why i designed it that way in the link i provided.

i have made more than a couple led mods in a variety of different hosts and sizes, and am the designer of the "hotlips" heatsink, which is the best heatsink out there for making a maglite modification. i've also designed many other heatsinks that i have made by hand for myself and other cpfers.
i have neither the time nor the desire to list any more of my qualifications here.

in addition to my mods, there are countless other cpfers who mod flashlights also. some of which use heatsinking not 1/10th of what is present in that module, though still probaby adaquate.

bottom line: i do appreciate your well-intentioned comments, but i know more about lights (be they led or incandescant) than you will ever know, and quite honestly i'm both amused and slightly offended to be "consulted" by you.

Roth...

Your posting dos not make sense You were asking for opinion and I give You an honest my opinion. Nothing more nothing less. In retrospect You were on a fishing expedition. If you know so much about lights than do not ask me for opinion etc.

So now You disclosed and showed Your wishy - washy color, do us a favor and just diasapear and get losst!!!

The informative Thread!!!

Happy New Year John and all the rest of the crew in this thread that never ends. Lets all try to be nicer in the new year.

He wanted to know how it compared to yours, as in what you did that might be different, not your opinion of his work. Just because you can' understand that doesn't make him wishy washy

Fishing Expedition?

Fishing expedition the puddy tat thays? No less of a fishing expedition than the very first post of this thread indicates in a vain attempt at free advertising.

Roth: Thank You, Thank You!! For being one (that is only one) of the first to actually describe in articulate detail about how an advanced lighting system works. And without insults. Much more than can be said for that thilly puddy tat, g.b.

Heck Roth, you might just actually receive some sales because of g.b.'s original post!! Now wouldn't THAT be some of street type justice!! :D Don't EVER disappear Bro and you do not appear to be the type to "get lost".

All the very best to you Roth, Smokin Bro, Dave, Etp, Cougar, Kiessling (although you have already started yours!) and all the rest of you people in the new year. Be VERY safe tonight. We have a driver so as to not get compromised when we salute' with several bottles and I hope you all do the same.

Stuart

SNEAK PREVIEW

Hey guys gues what I went to visit roth... posting on the Candelpowerforum, the first trick was to bypass the "DONATION GATE" (what a rippoff, first they rippoff you the secondtime the Gov. for tax evation as the Donation is not taxable. The other is that the Bum is placing a woman in front to shield himself, poor girl will hold the bag!!!)

The "praised" creation is among the crowd is praised and auctioned off for $205.00, what a bozos!!!!

The guy claiming that he knows more about lights than I do, which I question???

So, hope that clown established who he is and disapears!!!

To others Happy New Year!!!!

The informative Thread!!!

oh yes, by accepting donation (and even encouraging them, oh my! ), cpf has become a greedy and moneythirsting enterprise
(that was sarcasm goncz)
not taxable? damn right. donating to causes can be a very good thing. cpf is one of the "good causes" i think, as are countless other organizations and programs. cpf requires funding to exist, and instead of charging membership fees, we rely primarily on donations.
by saying "not taxable", you just proved that the only reason you ever would donate to a cause (which i wouldn't believe you'd ever do anyway), is for the selfish and greedy reason to write it off on your taxes.

thank you for "visiting" candlepower forums.
you used to be a member, and had a chance to open your line in style and even maybe have some loyal fans! boy you blew that one...acting like a jackass and getting banned.

i wasn't asking for your opinion in my post, i was showing you my creation, and wondering how it compared to yours.

after making my last post, i felt a little bad being so hard on you. you were trying to be helpful and i got angry with the fact that somone such as yourself should be offering me flashlight advise (on how to build a light no less!). now after reading your most recent post (and remembering some of the other posts you've made), i no longer feel bad about my harsh post :D

i'll be staying right here goncz, and look forward to more of your incredably stupid and fickle posts :D

happy new year! :D

A note for you knife-guys and John Goncz:
Roth is indeed one of our premium modders and a moderator on CPF and should hold the title "custom heat sink expert". He is skilled on a lathe and does custom work in high quality. He is also one of the old original members with great knowledge about lights, his words have weight.
He speaks the truth when describing his qualities and can be trusted 100%.
bernhard

HNY for you in the US ... here in Germany it is 2004 for over two hours now!

P.S.: John, this "girl" on CPF you are talking about is our second-in-charge Sasha, I think you already know her, although those memories might be unpleasant at best :)
"Donations" are something you offer as a gift to support a common goal, the CPF community in this case, and not something to make a profit from. We pay for the good of us all. BTW, thanx for reminding me, I'll just donate a few bucks ...

WE do not kiss any buts...

You must know: Guten glaubige, fur eine Auge nim doch, das Kopf...!!!

Should be "butts".

He may not kiss many but he sure knows how to act like a big one. :p

So Kiessling, if I understand this correctly, a "girl" made g.b. cry?

HA HA HA!!

That in and of itself is a hilarious ringing in of the new year!! Now I don't profess to be a light "expert" like the puddy tat, but it sounds like it might be a good place to check out. Gotta leave in a bit bit this is turning out to be a GREAT holiday.

:D

Stuart

John, this is not about kissing anyone's lower end but about respecting each other and acknowledging wisdom and competence in others, even if your opinions should differ. No one asks you to bow low, it would just be nice if you accepted that there are other people who know something about lights and how to manufacture them.

On a side note: I am not advertising for the great Roth nor am I defending Sasha (she can do that more than adequatly herself :) ), I am just clarifying some aspects and people from CPF who are mentioned here to make this debate easier to understand for BF members who do not know CPF.

bernhard

EDIT: Stu, as mentioned in a few posts above in this long thread, John was posting on CPF about his lights a few months back prior to his postings on BF. In the process he got banned. I think Sasha should have been involved, but I am not positively sure and too lazy to check it out now. After all, it is not that important. If he cried I do not know, but I honestly don't think so :) . BTW, I would never dare calling Sasha a "girl" ... :D, at least not at home on CPF ...

Kiessling: My comment regarding his crying was a bit tongue in cheek (ie: he tried to twist some prior comment into alleged “terrorist threats” or similar drivel) and I doubt that he actually sits in a corner sobbing. Actually that might be more accurate than we know. He sure is the first to start something and then cry “foul” ;) In any event he was the one that referred to her as a "girl" and I do not doubt that she straightened him out post haste. :D And as you said it's not really important anyway.

The only thing important here is that we all have a safe and fun New Year celebration and as I said earlier, For Kiessling that is a belated happy new year. Hope you are continuing to enjoy a good brew, cocktail, and/or cuddle from the one that means the most to you Bro.

Be safe you crazy kids, you!!

:D

Goncz, I love it when you speak French! :D

Happy New Year to everyone!

Happy New Year!

... ah yes... 'tis me... the "poor girl" herself. I have to admit that I am quite flattered to be referred to as a "girl". This old girl has way too many grey hairs at this point in her life. It's nice to hear something other than "ma'am"...

As for fronting for anyone... puh-leez... you wish, sweet cheeks! It must seriously tweek your balls to know that a chick is the one who shut your stupid ass down. And I honestly don't need anyone's permission or backing to do it. Nothing poor about this girl... not at all. I'm doing just fine.

Hey Roth! Bernhard! The rest of you guys!! Good to see you! :D

~Sasha

NO BALLS TWEEKING
Sasha, just to inform You that no "weib" woman with grey hair will twiking my balls, at least for now and time to come. Your imagination is reaching to faar but is the wrong address!!!!

The matter of fact You did me a favor so I do not loose time answering questions by some wanabees ignorants.

When walks, quacks like a duck is a duck. The way the cpf it appears is a duck, but that for the IRS to determine. You may beat the wrap, but will enjoy the ride... Hope!!!

bernard, 150lumen (5w luxeon) from 2x123 is easily obtainable, provided you have a voltage booster. My edc has an x3t which is rated to 200-249 lumen at 700mA. It is driven at about 750mA (I think) using a Dat2Zip converter. This draws about 1.1A from the battery.

I believe it is fair to derate the lumens with 15% since I use a good reflector and a glass lens (~95% transmittance?). I might be wrong on that, some of the incan freaks at CPF seems to think 30-40% of the lumens are lost in any flashlight.

Followed by a vaguely worded threat, at least to me it reads that way.....

Not too cool. Sounds like someone wants to stir up chit with the IRS since the forum in question rejected his position on various items like: facts, customer service, refunds for non-working chargers, which government agencies have ordered his lights and so forth.

Hmmmm.... so you would rather it was a guy tweeking your balls?!?!? ... figures...

Thanks, gal. That's the best laugh I have had all day, sorely needed since my team lost their Bowl game.
