Someone please explain to me why the hell this thread hasn't been locked, and the people involved banned? This isn't a good, bad, and ugly thread. This is a whine and cheese thread at best.

You have a bunch of bickering people insulting each other, basically crossing the line into slander, and the thread is left open? This isn't even about knives, for crying out loud.

Look, either Goncz produces good products, or he doesn't. Either way, I don't see why he's given the special privilege of calling people names in response to questions or comments. Obviously he has something to learn about customer service. Any other member would have been banned by now.

And what's with all the CPF people coming over to continue a year-old battle? They shut it down over there, but now want to fight it out here? Gosh, you'd think this was the first time EVER a manufacturer had made claims that were too good to be true about flashlights.

If the participants can't behave, discuss things like adults, and not call each other stupid commies, I think it's well past time to shut this down.

I'll answer for what I understand to be Cougar's position, basically he wants to let everyone see what kind of person/businessman Mr. Goncz is.

AFAIK, we're not even sure this is a legitimate business, pays taxes etc. His last business address was a Mailboxes Etc. or similar.

If the moderator wants the thread to stay on top, that's ok by me.

But letting a cross-forum flame war rage and allowing participants to post inflamatory words and pictures is not what I thought the GB&U was all about. Other threads have been shut down for less. Other people have been banned for less.

Let them fight it out on CPF. It's time to shut this one down.

I have been patiently waiting for the promised Goncz M-5 for a while now... :p No real hopes though ;)
All the crap of being a proud person has led to nothing so far...

I have sent my GM-3 to Rothrandir, to get it converted to a 5W led light, and will let you know about progress... ;)
 
I would agree that CPF should keep any CPF personal conflicts on their own site and should possibly not have banned g.b. for the same reason Cougar (et all) has allowed him to remain here. Perhaps CPF might reconsider their decision to ban him but that is of course their decision. In any event I agree with the current reasoning to allow him relatively free reign here and the mods will make their decision as circumstances develop.

Personally I had considered a purchase (at least several lights) from the goncz web site some time ago until I came across this thread, conducted some research of our own, and when I asked some questions and posted some of the objective info, was attacked by g.b. himself.

I also agree that some of this is more "wine & cheese" material and that is why I posted there some time ago. g.b. should go and play his silly games there.

As far as cross posting is concerned; When some significant info was found on the CPF site (that related to a recent post made by g.b.) it was referred to here. Not to inflame or bring CPF into the fray but to illustrate misrepresentations by g.b. himself and to further reveal him to possible customers.

In my opinion (for what it's worth) the Moderator can and will do what they want to with this thread and us as individual members. However, the more folks that read this thread in particular, the fewer will be "taken". And overall, that's a good thing regardless of what we think of it on an individual basis. I simply pass over or avoid threads that I find offensive, or have no interest in, etc…

Goncz was banned from CPF because he insulted and flamed other members when they simply asked for more information. No one abused him first. They did what they do to anyone who makes such lofty claims of new and exciting technology. He came back with nothing but patronizing insults... his usual MO. This type of behavior is not allowed in the general forums on CPF. He will not be welcomed back as he has never requested it and has thus far not shown a desire to change his ways. And he still owes lights and/or money to some members.

The reason that I showed up here is because Goncz decided to make some pretty serious veiled threats against CPF. I take that VERY seriously! Truthfully? I don't give a rat's ass about Goncz or his light or any of his other claims. Knock yourself out sweet cheeks... it's a free world... at least in this country, it is. But when he starts to make threats against CPF, that directly involves me and I will come out swinging.

I'm done batting around the little mouse for now though so I'll just go back to lurking. This has been very informative on many levels. Now we know what kind of a true scumbag this guy is.

if some clown comes to cpf and talks about his amazing knives that cut everything from butter to rock to traintracks, never need sharpening, and are made out of adamantium i would hope that some of you guys come and help the cpfers out who may not know any better!

cpf is done with him, but it isnt' about cpf. it's about goncz and other individuals. this is the good, bad, and ugly, this is where people post positive or negative experiences about individuals or companies. many people are both cpfers and bfers, and most of whom that have posted here have been members of both cpf and bf since before this thread origionated.

no matter what forums i post to, i don't think that really matters, so long as i provide informative and helpful information.

it is true, that my first post here was on, and because of this thread, but i was a lurker before, and have sense gotten involved in many other areas of this forum.

As to the CPF, I never saw somany self-tapings in Pading Zoo, that their vision ends at the surefire.

Spoosha, if you have a real interest in knives please take the time to do more than lurk. Your level headed responses have served you well on this thread.

All the CPF folks are very welcome on BladeForums as far as I am concerned.

I emailed you back on Saturday asking you to send me your address, and that I'd get the light back to you as agreed. I also asked you to get back to me about that M-2 you promised some time ago. The M-2 is the type and size of light I require for my use, and you promised me one to evaluate next to my Streamlight, and my Surefire. I also inquired about that project you were working on, and that I was available for phone contact this Friday morning.

You never replied.

My comment in the other thread had to do with how sad I thought this thread had gotten, and not anything about your product. I have purposely avoided commenting in this thread because I don't think it is productive whatsoever. My evaluation of the M-3 was true and correct. It is a good light. All it needs is a different bulb, and it would be a great light.

I ask you to please respond to the email I sent you on Saturday, 1-3-04. The last response took you over two weeks.
 
Pardon my ignorance, being merely a "knifnut" (Honest, a dozen flashlights is not too many. You never know.), but I am confused about "600 lumen at 5500 Kelvin!!!" (Post by Mr. Goncz on 11-27-03). I thought Kelvin was a temperature scale starting at Absolute Zero. In that sense, 5500 Kelvin would be, more or less, +4730 C, and that's pretty hot, yes?

As for titanium at RC 72, I find that hard to accept, but I'll ask Cliff Stamp to comment.
 
Roth, I think by 1A rating Goncz was referring to the Carley PR adapter. In my experience it can tolerate a lot more, at least for short intervals. I wouldn't be surprised if they can take 3a.

A better solution may be to have Carley pot the bulbs in ceramics.

the Kelvin is the indication of the brightnees of the light: the Xenon is somewhere 3100 to 3300 and the 5 watt LED is 5500 slightly under the sunlight.

Usualy if You overdrive a bulb and close to 3400 Kelvin You have a dead bulb,

Yes We did it and it was so sharp that was perfect for shaving. If you do not believe, that is also fine.

On the other hand You can ask Bud Lang former editor of the KNIFE Magazine...

You are right the PR base actualy has a ceramic in that the pins are located, and we put it to "torture " test and is great.

Beside Carley is a US, Company and makes fine products!!!
