please accept my apologies for doubting you. :)

i'll keep it in a safe place, so if i come into more money soon enough i can attend the shotshow, and hopefully see you there to thank you in person :)

Ste,

Thanks for the offer and we will take You on. You arrange an unbias tests, whatever You choose and you may post it and the results as maybe...

g.b.:

The offer to assist with a location for a test of lights was not meant as a challenge. Nor was it an offer to completely set up or conduct the "test". I am certain that there will be others in attendance much more qualified than I am to actually conduct any flashlight test.

You have described faulty tests in the past and since it appears that there will be several light manufacturers at the SHOT Show it would make sense to allow yourself and any other manufactures an opportunity to test lighting devices side by side.

You mentioned that you intend to attend the SHOT Show and it would be a prime opportunity for you (or a representative) to participate in order to avoid any possible "tampering" with the results.

Simply having "live" models on display at the SHOT Show would be a prime opportunity for you to show your flashlights in person as well as to possibly sell some at the show.

As I mentioned earlier I do not have available, any electrical or light test equipment. In this regard, as well as your having stated in the past that you have test equipment(or a “lab” available) it would provide you an unparalleled opportunity to address doubts about the advertised performance and to unveil existing as well as any new models.

Are there any other experienced reviewers of this thread who intend to be at the SHOT Show and that would be interested in actually setting the test parameters and ground rules of a possible live side by side flashlight test?

OUTSTANDING FORM g.b.!

It is good to see that you have made good on the aforementioned agreement with the Roth Kid.:D

  Holy Shmoly!!

Damn, John, you are right on your way towards being an upstanding member here... Good Show!!

Guys,

Yep, he paid off his bet. Now he has 999 other promises to make good before he can be taken as serious. I admit it is good to see him keep his word on SOMETHING, but what about all the other stuff he has blown off?

By the way GB, we are STILL waiting for a picture of this supposed knife from Total Recall. If you cant post here, at least email to those who want to see it.

In my (4x123) mag mod, which apparently uses the same bulb and bulb adapter as the goncz m3, i have had some annoyance with the bulb goung out of focus when the light is knocked around. This is because the bulb moves relative to the bulb base (ie. the bulb pins bend). Has any m3 owners had this problem?

The setup also does not have the same focal point as a regular PR bulb, because there is a glass protrusion under the 1274 bulb which prevents the bulb to be inserted into the base far enough. My solution to this will be to drill a hole in the base to accomodate the protrusion. this will also cause a stiffer, more shockproof setup, since the exposed pin length will be shorter.
I still think a potted bulb will be alot more reliable though.

If anyone is interested in what bulb to use with 3x123, a search on cpf will reveal some options. KPR118 (radioshack?), HPR51 (dunno source) and CL1057 (from carley, brightest?) seems to be favorites.

Ailsnail - guess your 7.2V 01274 was **slightly** overdriven by 4 123´s even with that high load

KPR 118 at 7.2V 0.75A 100 lumens ?
HPR 51 at 6,5V 0.7A 90 lumens ?

might better try a HPR04 at 7,4V 0.7A 114lu though ?

klaus, thanks for the suggestion! I dont intend to make a 3x123 bulb light right now though.. and i havent tried those bulbs myself.

Just to get completely off topic: i put a lith AA (1.5v) in addition to the four 123's into the 3c mug, and lit it quite brightly up with a WA01318 :)

Geez!! What the heck are you guys talkin' about?!?!

It's like this is a real live flashlight thread or sompthin'

Back on topic, this thread "Originally" mentioned a knife...

g.b.:

Whatever did happen to the knife photos?

Will you bring a brace of flashlights to SHOT Show?

Perhaps you would bring some of your Ti knives to the SHOT Show.

STE,

We took 48 shots of the flashlights and accessories. We are still need to take some more for the new 8 page catalogue.

If everything goes right tommorow we will shot it in the studio and We will post it.

Thanks,

The informative thread!!!

Whoo Hoo! I am the 40,000 view on this humorous and entertaining thread or should I say 'the thread of truth'.:barf: I just had to join and post. I would have posted earlier (7:30 P.M. EST) but it took a while to receive the account activation e-mail. Hello to all from another CPF member.:D

Welcome MrMom, glad to have aboard.

This really is an entertaining thread isn't it. Lots of humour and many twists and turns to the plot. Some intrigue as well. As far as being informative is concerned, well...

Are there any parties other than g.b. that are interested in having a side by side "live" test of flashlights during the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Feb 12-15, 2004?

g.b.:

How did the photo shoot of your knives go? Will you be posting the photos?

Will you be attending the SHOT Show or will you have a rep there?

MrMom:

Congrats on joining. :D

All the best,

Stuart

How mny pictures does he need to take to get one up in the thread? I'd think of 48, he could put up one of them.
