Good "cheap" knives?

I suggest a hands down winner of the Ka-bar Dozier designed folders. I have a spear point, Aus8, very postive lockup. $20 from A G Russell. I don't think it can be beat, -high quality for $20!

The new Delica/Endura 4's are hands down, the best bang for your buck (In a folder). Both can be had for 50 dollars or less off of ebay...Bi-Directional texturing, Dual liners, ambidextrous tip up/tip down carry, VG-10 Blade Steel, Waved Models, and Spyderco's Excellent Customer service backing them... you really can't go wrong with either.

I would second the Delica/Endura suggestion for sub $50 if you're looking for a full sized folder. The Leek is also in that price range and is great if you're looking for a slim assisted opener. Under $100 there are a ton of options.

By far the best bang for buck knife I've ever bought has got to be my Opinel. It cuts extremely well, is easy to sharpen and is dirt cheap. If you want something cheap and functional without the bells and whistles, I cannot think of a better knife.

I am a Vic SAK guy myself. But lately i've been getting into Moras, and that has now spilled over into other inexpensive good knives. I ordered a Douk-Douk last night and i plan to buy some Opinels, Mercators, and those Facose Robinson knives (look like Opinels but have two blades ala Spyderco Dyad).

Hi Im opening a upscale metal Gallery. We've taken a cool old building on our main street and completely remodled it the front is very industrial modern steel and glass. I've been a jeweler for 22 years and will be selling custom wedding bands and lots of eclectic, visionary metal work. I'm looking for some blades. I know nothing about knives, only what is visualy pleasing. I'm looking for a few bladesmiths in practical, med, and upper price range in contemporary looks. any suggestions?

Thats cool.I'm not into the custom scene myself but there are lots of people here who can help you with custom info. And maybe you could also start a thread asking that question in the custom forum section

I'd say go for a Kershaw Random Leek. I have the normal leek and it is fantastic. Very sleek nice knife. The random would just be upgrading you to S30V.

I carried a Delica every day for 11 years. It doesn't look new but it functions like new. Great value.

I'd say for a cheap/good folder, the "Byrd"
The Byrd is indeed a good knife for the money, but it's slippery. Being all brushed stainless, water, blood or sweat will have it all over the place. The Cold Steel Voyager is one of my top picks. It's light, strong and steady.

I alternate my edc between my FRN Cara Cara which is an absolutely awesome knife regardless of it's price, the low price is just gravy on top of a great product, and my Camillus Heat, which I got for $19 brand new, it is a very comfortable knife in hand, opens slick and sure, and the AUS8 takes a keen edge pretty easy, and keeps it well enough for my business. I would not feel underknifed with either one.

CRKT can be got on ebay for a fraction of their list price.
And some of them are good.

boker kalashnikov auto. only like $40. (depending where u go). hopefully its legal where u live. (who cares if it isnt!) lol

Cold Steel Recon 1. Given me tons of service. The new G10 handled ones are even stronger than the zytel one I have. Hella Strong. Strongest folders I have ever used (and I have had several folders of name brand designs for the same price or even more fail in use and cut me).

The yellow Case pocket knives in CV are excellent and not too expensive. I recently got a yellow serpentine pen knife that's a real winner. Pen knives are usually too small for my taste, but this is the same size (3-1/4" closed) as my Case serpentine stockman and has essentially the same size clip master blade. However, with the single spring, it is much lighter than the stockman. Fit and finish are almost perfect, and it came extremely sharp. Price was under $30.

Yep, Spyderco makes excellent knives, but I'm partial to longer blades. I've been carrying various models of the Cold Steel Voyager and very much like the 5-inch. I bought the serrated model but would probably go with the standard blade now. I also like the Cold Steel Gunsite 5-inch. Both the Voyager and the Vaquero come in 4-inch, 5-inch, and 6-inch blade models. I can carry the 6-inchers legally and I do carry them sometime.

I also like the CRKT folding tantos and spear points (both made with AUS8). CRKT has been going to cheaper steels, so be careful.
