Good first knife for a girlfriend?

So do you still need recommendations for your gf, errr, soon-to-be ex-gf? Like one above poster said, maybe it is time to instead treat yourself with a nice knife, in which case I still recommend a sprint run Spyderco Military.

Perfect excuse to buy yourself a spankin new bad ass blade, nothing better to help with the heartache!!
Sprint run Millie sounds great!!

After much thought and consideration, I propose this as the absolute best knife for a girlfriend:

Any knife that she will actually carry, use regularly, and not stab you with or amputate your appendages with ;)

She just broke up with me cause we can't see each other enough. On the bright side she said when I get back we'll start up again so... Long distance relationships don't work I guess. :)

Buy her one that folds backwards on her hand when she tries to change your gender.

I love that people are still recommending knives! She dumped him! Read the thread lol.

Seriously though op, good thing you didn't spend a bunch of money on a knife for her. And being you are so young I wouldn't recommend doing so in the future for the next gf.

That's exactly why I typically recommend budget friendly knives for gf's.
A few decent sentimental knives for around $100 or less, is really no different then any other little jewelry gift, (Just way more practical), and in many cases less expensive then a night out on the town, dinner and a show and what not.
No tears if it doesn't work out, (and for the passive aggressive type, as long as she keeps the knife/knives, she'll always remember who and where they came from).

Lucky sap actually found out before the purchase, good thing she's walking away without a chinese Gerber, and isn't walking away with a brand new cnc'd sebbie

Keep that in mind OP, nothing wrong with buying gifts for your girl, but if you ever have to "think about it" so much regarding getting her something real nice; knife, purse, bracelet, (or ring): you should probably just take her out for a nice dinner and a night on the town a few more times and enjoy yourself in the process, and just see where it goes.

My girl rode out 3 county bids with me and bailed me out of a 4th, (long story(s)), and that's a big reason behind why she finally got herself the ring she wanted, after a handful of knives she may or may not have.

Just saying, maybe you should just buy yourself a new knife and find yourself a new GF?

:) I'll get a knife soon. Looking at an ESEE and grabbing an Opinel sometime this week

Byrd is the way to go I think, I got my wife a Robin and she likes it (I wouldnt says she loves it because she isn't into knives like me). Heck I like to carry it every now and then when she forgets it.

Just a quick refresh:
My woman got a Leatherman for mother's day, and so I had her get together all the knives she has acquired from me over the past few years. Figured I would snap a picture for the next poor bloke who is considering a knife for his GF.

As one can see the Avispa has a massively full handle, in hindsight a Zancudo would have sufficed for "girl" hands. *(luckily my ol lady does have largish chick hands).

In any case, keeping in mind that unless your lady friend is actually "into knives" like you are, there is no need to get her the latest custom midtech greatest super steel and what have you, because she most likely won't be able to really appreciate it anyhow any more then any other knife.
But, you can still get her a very functional And sentimental tool (which is the ultimate function of and reason behind a knife anyhow) without breaking the bank.

Nothing like over spending and getting the old sarcastic, "Yyyeaaaah, a(nother) knife."

Then when she actually puts up with you and your knutty knife knonsense for a few years, then you can truly overspend on something she can wholly appreciate that (hopefully) will make her smile and super happy.

"The kRing" (the k is still silent )

I gave my wife a Spyderco Dragonfly Tattoo

a few years ago and she carries it daily and constantly tells me that it's the most useful gift I've given her. It has a great handle to blade ratio for her, stainless handle with only a touch of girly.

My bf got me a pink ladybug, and pink PM2. Ive taken over the dragonfly and PM3. However obsessed with the ladybug tattoo and dragonfly tattoo, as well as a few of his ZTs.

It may have been said but I vote spyderco dragonfly. I got my girlfriend one and she carries it everyday yoga pants, jeans whatever she loves it
