Good knife for a Biker?

Id have to vote for the BM hardtail, the modern Buck 110 IMO, though personally i like a fixed blade when i ride so i generally have a Kabar

i think a nice 3 inch fixed blade becker should be legal regardless of what city or county he winds up riding through, and the micarta should be grippy enough to not slide around in grease and grime covered hands if he winds up wrenching on his bike on the side of the road or something. add to that a nice custom tooled leather sheath and you should be able to wrap a smile around his head.

Im a biker and I normally carry one of the following: a BM51 clipped inside my front pocket (for going places where FB's aren't cool), an ESEE 5 oc'd in the stock sheath, or my Nimravus in a 2Munkeez IWB.

I have not had any problems with any of them in regards to comfort or security. One concern, though, is my vest can cover the handle of my ESEE 5 making it "concealed" I have a CWP so it only matters if I'm in a 'no concelament' area.

Edit to add - if yer state allows OC and u don't plan on going into establishments that ban carrying, I'd go with the E5, I feel best when I have that one. Its just good for everything.

Check out the Cold Steel Spike. Go to there website and watch the vids for it. They have several blade styles. I have the Tanto version and that thing is just plain scary and I'm the one carrying it !! It's a necker so would be good for concealed carry

Perhaps it would depend on the bike...

Sports bike: maybe something with carbon fibre like Spyderco Sage 1 or Gayle Bradley. Or maybe a Fox USA Citizen or Buck Vantage Force Pro.
Road/cruiser bike: Buck 110, Benchmade 710, Zero Tolerance (pick a flavour within budget), Cold Steel Recon 1 or Ak-47, Spyderco Military.
Classic/touring bike: Case Trapperlock, Moki jigged bone lockback, Al Mar Falcon or Eagle Ultralight.

I think any biker would also appreciate a nice Leatherman tool. Good luck! :)

I'm a biker and I carry a bunch of different knives. The one knife I never leave behind is my spyderco civilian I always carry in my right pocket. The knife that I carry to be my "need to cut something that's not flesh" knife is either a large regular Sebenza or umnumzaan in a nice belt sheath.

I suggest a waved Endura or a Street Beat or a less expensive KABAR TDI and use the rest to send him to a self defense class.

depending on price range, the size of his hands and local laws, either a spyderco para2 or military. another good choice if a tighter budget is involved is the cold steel recon 1.

I second the ball peen ...

Folder: Buck 110 with NS bolsters
Fixed: Buck 119

When I ride, I generally use a belt sheath for my folder, which is ordinarily a Case Shark Tooth or an Al Mar Eagle Talon (older one from the 80s with brown/black micarta and metal bolsters).

I know we've already settled that this is for a motorcyclist not bicyclist. But for those giving bicyclist recommendations I think the frn native in s30v can not be beaten. Such a compact package with a blade large enough for most EDC chores.

i do a lot of bike riding, my para2 is pretty much always in my waistband.

Im with zignel on this. As a biker (74 shovel flh) and coming from a family of bikers, i carry a balisong. And in that price range a kimura is a good buy. You can find then for about 75 bucks and theyre well made. And will easily go through a thick leather jacket. Just make sure hes got his concealed carry permit or that theyre legal there. But asside from a catastrophic failure, the knife will not fail and close on your hand. A bradley mayhem can be found for between 200 and 230 for a new one. Just my perspective as a biker
