Good knife for a Biker?

If only your price range were $700, I'd recommend forgetting knives, and getting him a Pedersoli Lupara (they call it a "Howdah Pistol").

You can probably guess which one it is in those pics.

There's another brand, imported from India, that's about half price compared to Pedersoli. But I can't remember the name, and wouldn't be allowed to link to 'em if I could, and $350 is still way over your stated budget. :(

But bikers tend to love sawed-off double barrels, and the Pedersoli, being a black powder gun, is legal in nearly all 50 states. It also means you can load almost anything that'll fit down the barrel; I heard of one biker who preferred broken safety glass "cubes," as they would cut someone up pretty bad, but not penetrate enough to be lethal. Not that I recommend anything like that. I'd recommend #1 or #0 buckshot, arranged in layers 2 x 2.

Anyway, I've come to realize that a shorty shotgun is very much like a chopper. It doesn't matter if your a** or wrist turns into jello while riding/shooting, it only matters how cool you look in the process!

I've ridden motorcycles for 45 years and when I see "biker" I can only think of the ignorant unwashed attitude laden dipsticks running around giving motorcycles (and knives!) a bad name. Hopefully your brother isn't one of them.

I say cold steel large espada. If he's a bare bones nothing fancy biker get it in G10 if he has a nice polished up bike get it in the polished model.

Here is a cool one that comes with 2 familiar names for your brother: Harley-Davidson and Benchmade. It comes with a black leather sheath, made in USA and made form 440C, so it’s a slugger.

Knife center says 106, but I bet you could find it cheaper

I have secretly had my eye on one of these for a while now. Good luck, and I hope I didn’t miss the outcome previously in the large thread.

I carry my Spyderco Military everywhere.. on my bike or not. Thin, light, big (but small).

I haven't been riding as long as you, but feel the same way. Most riders I know prefer to be called "motorcyclists."

------------

My 'motorcycling' knife is an AG Russell Hunters Scalpel. You're looking for something more high-dollar I realize, but a custom maker could rig you up something similar that would catch your price range.

My ride knife selection criteria:
* Can't-lose-the-knife carry system. Sheath or lanyard is critical.
* Inconspicuous. I ride to have a good time and see the country, not to show off or attract attention to myself.
* I prefer fixed blade. A flat, lightweight, locking knife with lanyard would probably work just as well.
* NO SKULLS, stupid logos, or other death-fetish crap.

I started a "What pocketknife..." topic at a motorcycle forum where I'm a member. Lots of interesting knives being carried by "non-Knife" people. Mutli-tools and SAKs were common answers. EDCs like Spyderco, Gerber, and Kershaw. Not a single custom or traditional pocketknife in the bunch...

More CCC - on Alibaba and Aliexpress

Maybe if he rides a Chinese motorcycle? They probably knock off Harley Davidsons too!

ESEE Rat 4.

A solid choice. The kydex sheath can be purchased with full molle backing for traditional carry or like me - I own just the lower end which can tied off in many ways if you're creative. Answers the OP's request for suggestions on a sturdy fixed or folding knife for self defense and utility. The Esse 4 is solid in every way.

Some of these suggestions seem like people are thinking pirates instead of bikers...

When I clicked on this thread I thought "it's interesting to see what a large group views as being a biker - based on their suggestions for a suitable knife." I forget if the OP ever posted back on what kind of "biker" he meant. A bicycle or a mootorcycle?

He did... he clarified his post to mean "motorcyclist, and not a 1%er" a little while back.

OT, but I'd have a one time homosexual encounter for that Mateba revolver.
