good old boys, Shiva Ki, & justice for all

absolutely. That is a huge part of the reason that I have custom knives.

Same here, it is the only reason I own more than one.

David, what exactly do you mean about on topic?

Look, if the fish keeps jumping back in the barrel I'll keep shooting. Shiva Ki has done a fine thing in making sure I don't need to buy a spirit blade or any of his other works. Think of the knifemakers who have their heads screwed on straight who now can reap the benefits.

Honestly, let's look at a scenario here - you buy a knife from any maker. You use it in what would be considered a proper method. Not chopping rocks, not lifting commercial air conditioners off a roof, just for knifey stuff.

You break it doing knifey stuff, not cutting up old appliances or reprofiling the edge so you could pound nails with it.

A reasonable guy will replace it for you.

Shiva Ki and his benefactors have convinced me that he is not reasonable, that he in fact is around the bend, that none of his blades can ever be broken or in fact soiled due to the mystical shield of Real Ultimate Power that surrounds his work.

Okay, fine, this is not just a discussion about knives, it's about all things in and around them. So?

If you did not know about the issues surrounding Allan Blade, you may order one from him, right? Maybe even pay up front for the knife.

You'd likely be out the money.

In other words, you deserve a chance to know what you are dealing with in terms of reasonable behavior and communication.

This is a pretty similar issue. We're not just talking about the knives. As I've said, I like the lines enough to buy one if it were to come up and I had the spare cash. KNowing what I do now know, uh-uh. Nope. Not a chance, unless reason injects itself into the rhetoric.

FOR the RECORD, I'm not likening Shiva Ki to a thief. It is apparent to me, and to a bunch of other folks that the guy is not reasonable. Therefore, people deserve to know what they may be getting into.

The guy's defenders keep jumping back in the arena with more of the same nonsense which got Mr. Ki booted in the first place, complete with return privileges if he behaves. Why not respond? Sometimes people are not good one-trial learners, despite making it this far in evolution.

I bet we all lose interest in this if they let it go for a couple days, but the moment the Chosen bring it back to light, well, it is a discussion forum and discuss we will.

I've never hit the ignore button - sticking your head in the sand does not make the ignorance go away, it only increases your own ignorance of a situation.

Keith, Roger, Parker, Ira... why don´t you guys hit the IGNORE button? It seems to me you like to argue with those guys.. like some kind of sport - who will drive him crazy enough to get banned.. right?

David

Leave me alone!!!!!:jerkit:  :D

I read the "shiva" posts (in the only "shiva" thread). Maybe it is my inability to understand English well enough - but was it really that bad? His ego was big but .. there are many others with the same size of their egos.... And without the (inquiring, arguing, lecturing) audience he would go away...

David, your intentions are good, but you are being naive. Ignoring this kind of trash (since he keeps on posting it, multiple threads, contant replies from him etc) does not make it go away. It's kind of like ignoring cr*p on your carpet, you can be as nice as you want and it doesn't change what is on your carpet.

Kudo's to your kind nature. It is naive, in this environment. I have no wish for a struggle or argument with you, but, you are interrupting the free expression of others who actually have valid opinions about the original poster. Let them express themselves. Their view is actually valid. Thinking trolls will go away if not fed, that's an old line that actually never has been true. Trolls continue to be trolls. When they are exposed, "fully", that's about the only cure. And that's happened here. Fighting the guys who speak up is not part of the "peace process", it adds an un-needed disharmony among the guys who have the guts to step up.

I'm just practicing, hoping it is a sport that gets into the olympics one day. Anyway, I hate the ignore feature. It takes all the flow out of a thread.

Yes sir keith, Troll hunting will be an Olympic sport at the next winter games!!!
The contestants ski downhill drunk, armed with a shotgun, a net, and a hand-grenade.

Beyond this there are no rules........................

I didn't say it wasn't okay, I just don't want you to get so riled up that you burst a blood vessel. What people post on a forum is never going to be something that you will be able to control, unless you start your own forum. It's not worth it to let this stuff bother you so much.

Well I think if he was not provoked he would not post it, if he was ignored, he would not post it and the threads would disappear. I also think the original thread (where he was banned) was not that bad - and what I understood is that the advertizing had been the main reason he was banned...

BTW I have no problem with sharing information (good or bad) but it seems to me that only those who did not have ANY practical experience with this guy are complaining about his behaviour. Others (his customers) are quite happy. So why is it that way?

David

Hello everyone, I see that this has become a sounding board for everyones personal views. I will not defend Shiva's breaking your rules. I understand that a lot of you were here at the start of this forum. I have respect for the knifemakers, operators, martial artist who have contributed to this forum.
Having said that, I have to tell you that Mr.Ki has been very kind to me. He has given me knives, sent me care packages when I was deployed, He has even helped me set my own knifemaking shop. So did he say things that hurt peoples feelings? Sure, is he an ornery S.O.B sometimes Yes. but does that have anything to do with the quality of his product. I dont think so. I am not trying to keep this battle going. I do enough fighting as it is. Semper Fi

I've never handled his knives, but most of the respected members on here have not disputed the quality of his knives, and I trust most of that groups reviews.

David,

First of all, I can't help but observe yet again that for a guy who began his participation in this thread by pointedly recommending that I and others ignore this issue and just let it go, you seem to be holding on pretty tight yourself. ;)

Second, Shiva's (mis)conduct spans SEVERAL threads - NOT just the one where he got banned. It perhaps helps you cling to your view that his behavior was "not that bad" by stubbornly refusing to look at the whole picture. If you do choose to look at the totality of his conduct on the forums and still think it's more or less OK, then it is unlikely that anyone will change your mind on the subject.

Third, It is clear that Shiva has treated his customers well - they have been afforded ample opportunity to share their views (and I notice you don't suggest that THEY should ignore the topic) - but nobody has suggested that the man is a thief and can't be trusted. The criticisms leveled at Shiva bear directly on his behavior right here amongst us all (and to a lesser degree, on some of the absurd content on his web site - carboard machine guns??!! ). To suggest that those criticisms lack merit because we haven't dealt with him directly is utterly obtuse.

Again.... was it really that bad? If yes, shoot him :) (or me?:p :p ). In the mean time - have a great weekend!

What's the prob. Roger ??
"David" not doing it your way?

... my, my, you continue to be a wonderful example of, "persistance, and stubborn ignorance."

You really should remember to do your homework, Roger.

Cardboard machine gun? Have you actually *handled* the weapon, Roger?

:jerkit: :jerkit:

"persistance, and stubborn ignorance."

Begg those words describe you perfectly.

More evidence of this comes from you telling Roger to do his homework.

LMAO at that one since it even shows more ignorance.

(BTW I have handled one and no that one is not real.)
