Got a light?

Those HDS lights look awesome! I'll probably get one about the same time I can afford Mystery Ranch packs.

For now I carry Fenix. I have an LD10 at all times for edc. Great light for the $. I keep an TA21 for home security and it goes camping with us every time. My HL20 is the best headlamp I've had and is used for work all the time and night time hiking as well. I prefer lights that use AA batteries since they are easy to find and plentiful.

True, the good stuff usually is expensive. And I'm supposed to economize.

At least I don't need to depend on AA's. I live close enough to several military bases, where I can reliably and fairly cheaply get any battery I might want.

That's funny. Although I am US ex-military and my son is active reserves I always forget about going on base. We are surrounded by bases here. I feel stupid now having such a great asset nearby and not using it.

4 Sevens or Fenix are hard to beat.
HDS are top of the line. IMO
Surefires are nice but overpriced.

Heavens, don't feel foolish. BUT ... do use those bases. Remember, "use it or lose it" -- especially when Congress is screaming about the deficit.

Sometimes, you can even find good production knives and decent pistols on base.

I went through a big flashlight phase. I ended up with a 4sevens titanium quark AA for pocket carry. Slimmer than the fenix, small and lightweight, several output modes. Never let me down after several years of daily carry.

I went thru enough Fenix, jetbeam, surefire, streamlight, nitecores and novatacs that I could have had more INFI. If only I had bought an HDS/Ra first, I could have saved all that cash. 'Course, I can stash all the rest away in packs now. :)

Flash it on folks eyes and they just get a dumb, glazed look on their face.

Allow me to demonstrate...

I have an HDS/Ra that I love. Its been used very hard and still keeps on ticking.

I also own a variety of Surefire, Streamlight, Novatac, and Fenix lights. They are all high quality and its probably best if you find a design/size that you like and compare different brands based on what you are looking for. Just remember, if you buy a common size led bulb, you can always get an aftermarket drop in bulb if you aren't happy with the light output. I have used drop in replacement bulbs fron TNVC, as well as Malkoff, but there are several different brands that all seem to work pretty well. If you are really interested in building your own flashlight, you can put together exactly what you want and generally get it cheaper than a name brand alternative.

Fenix flashlights rock, i've had a number of Surefire lights stop working on me , but my Fenix lights have never let me down, just like my Busse knives.

Fenix LD10, single AA, easy to use and affordable.

Another vote for the LD10! It's been my EDC choice more than 3 years now and no complaints. I can always find a single AA battery laying around- not often two of them.
The TV remote has been scavenged more than once for batteries as well...now I have a 4X charger and a bunch on Eneloop batteries.
I also keep a Fenix E05 on my keyring.

I had a AA explode in my L10 once - long story- anyway I sent it in and it was repaired in a couple weeks.

Nothing else I owns takes a CR123, so I discounted those options right away. Streamlight makes a decent AA light now though.

Have fun shopping!

Hey Garth!

Surprised I have not seen anyone mention Polarion!
They are not small, not cheap and not for EDC but can turn night into day better than any flashlight on the planet! Out performs the Surefire Beast or Hellfighter.

Hope it helps!

Here's a pic of a few of my HDS Rotary's. I'm sure I could get you a pink one if you are interested ;)

Hello All, new to blade forums. Well, now I have said "HI."

Another vote for the 4sevens. Fenix is theirs sister company just fyi. I have the Quark 123^2(squared) turbo X. 450 lumens in max mode. The throw is around 120 yards. The light is REALLY impressive! 10 year warranty with awesome customer service. If you are looking at a home defense type light to stay by the bed, look at the maelstrom S18, 1200 lumens. If you want a small, EDC type light look at the High CRI(limited run, so act fast) Quark Mini 123, green packaging. 2 inches and 190 lumens.
