Got a light?

Fenix LD10 R5, pocket friendly and works with a single battery AA:)

I am with you, I am now also in the research phase with the inevitable outcome of some HDS lights finding a home here.

I am not sure re. the clicky vs twisty yet but I will probably try both. Any advice on that would be appreciated.

I checked out the YouTube vids about them and also read some reviews and opinions about that choice on a well known flashlight forum. However for me the real deciding factor was the fact that I have a few NiteCore "clicky's" and I can never remember the click sequence or combination required to alter the light strength. So for me for edc I just want to keep it simple.

My only small bugbear with the rotary is that you cannot buy a clip for it. I will probably have one of the local knife makers fit one for me But I would have preferred a factory fit item.

I am not planning on collecting lights........they hold no beauty for me......I just want to be able to see were I am going reliably.:o

Steven,
I had Rainwalker make me a few sheaths for my Rotary's. You may want to consider that, here are some pics. I would avoid trying to add a clip, tolerances are too tight and there is the chance it would damage the light (especially in the waterproof area)

Wow Eric those are really nice. Thanks for the advice about fitting the clip.......I will avoid that.

I was also considering a kydex clip to fit around the central body of the light formed with a integral kydex clip included. (I am describing it badly)
That way I could still pocket carry the light.

Anyway I am looking very forward to having this and I will post a few pics of my solution when it arrives........:)

4Sevens offer some good products. I spoke with the guys from 4Sevens at their booth at Blade2011, great people.
I always have an eye out for the smallest high-output shock and water resistant lights. This thread caused me to buy a HDS and I should have a recently ordered Jet Beam PC10 in hand tomorrow.

I will say that HDS may not be the brightest, may not be the smallest, but they sure do handle the shock and water resistance great.
To me they are the Busse of Flashlights, and that is why I like them and obviously buy them. ;)

Here is a pic I took a while back, showing my light/knife EDC combo, it hasn't changed since the pic was taken. Does give an idea on the size of the HDS though

I too have a custom rotary on order but didnt realize it doesnt have a pocket clip.
I know I can buy the kydex holster form HDS or have another maker such as Rainwalker make a holster for the light but I was hoping to not have to put another holster on my belt :grumpy:

I was told 4 weeks for the shipment, hopefully their 4 weeks isn't like the Busse "2 weeks" ;)

I feel the same way about the holster. I much prefer a pocket carry solution.

As for the wait, from what I have read it is going to be awhile. I am not particularly concerned.......I spend my life waiting for nice things!:o

I have both Surefire and Fenix lights. The Surefire is an older 7z combat light that has been upgraded with a cree led. When I decided to purchase another light, price for me was an issue since I think the technology in these led lights is making leaps and bounds, so the super cool expensive light you purchase today could be old technology next year. I just found that the Fenix lights seem to be really good lights for not much money and leaves me more money for things that go bang !.
I have a Fenix TK11, uses 2 123 batteries....Couple of Fenix E05, use 1 aaa battery...and a Couple of Fenix E15, use 1 123 battery. My favorite is the E15s as they are super small and have seemed to fit the bill whenever I needed them.
Kinda like a CCW, only worth anything if you have it when you need it and these are super small and put out a good amount of light for their size.

AA is really your only option for readily available batteries plus you can run eneloops. Jetbeam BAx, Fenix LDx, or 4sevens Quarks. My BA20 is the second brightest light in use at my department, only because one of the high speed guys dropped $500 on a Surefire.

I'm trying out a new carry system for my Rotary. Give me a couple of days and I'll give you an update. It is in my pocket clipped with a P7 suspension clip. Pics and update to follow. (this is not my idea but stolen from someone on CPF ;) ) However, it looked like another way to carry this light so I wanted to try it out.

My original HDS EDC Ultimate 60 GT is the light that I judge all other lights by. Henry got it right from day one, I've had no need to upgrade anything on these beauties, they are flawless and one of my all-time favorites.

Wow that is a fantastic selection you have there.......Please tell me how do the HDS lights stack up against the ubber high end lights like Mac's Customs and McGizmo?

LOL! Careful Steven. Don't stare too long or you may start to find beauty in there. And if not, then curiosity and analysis will start taking over.

That is how collections start. :D

The materials may be different but the Genius in all three Makers is a Apparent in their Work. I just happen to be a little biased because the HDS s were the first one's for me and hold a special place in my collection.
