Got wood? Part Deux.

Cassia siamea..
I have to show "limus piit" (literally translate "finch mango" its got the name since the fruit of the mango is so small). Will post later once i have time to look for it it my hard disk.

Nice Missouri Black Walnut on this collaboration by two Missouri makers you all know.

No longer in my possession, its already in my brother now.
Limus piit, O1, made by Javasmith.
Not all of the "limus piit" tree will have dark color and pattern like this, maybe it is because of external factor.

My hands-down favorite is end-grain spalted maple:

It's tough to beat some feather walnut when you can find it:

This might be one of my favorite pieces of walnut - ever.
And I've done a bushel basket of some killer stuff:

John,

I'd post your Silky Oak Bowie, but I can't seem to... The wood on that would belong here...

Awesome woods in all of these pics!

Joe- I think I still have that. I'll post it in a bit. I forgot about that one. :)

Whew! You guys are bringing it to the table with this thread. The dark rich wood tones bring back warm thoughts of my wealthy Grandfathers den and him sipping bourbon in his leather chair.

I love koa and blackwood but there's lots of examples of those. Here's a few others I like.

Mesquite:

Amboyna:

Ironwood:

Redwood:

Madagascar Rosewood:

Honduras Rosewood Burl:

Nuturally two-tone Silky Oak:
