Desert ironwood...

Almost black now--have to crank up the light to see anything. But when I do, sure enough, it's still there. :D

Here is another Curly Koa for the wood thread. Mike Quesenberry integral Damascus Hunter. I just wish my photos could show the chatoyance in this piece of wood.

This is not my knife. Made by Tim Johnson. I just copied the photo from the kitchen knives section (hope that was ok). I thought it was a great wood combo for the handle.

Here's one from a few years back. I really like this batch of redwood... and still have a few blocks left in my stash.

Another old one in redwood.

I also have a soft spot in my heart for Karelian Birch, which is never as pretty in photos as it is in hand...
I made a small santoku with amboyna for my mom a few years back that blows my mind every Thanksgiving when I see it glistening with turkey grease. :D
Camphor burl finishes up beautifully... but doesn't seem to take too well to the stabilization process. It does smell nice though.
... Oh, and madrone burl... I once had a random set of madrone burl scales that went onto a frame handle. Those scales were fantastic.

Thanks for keeping the pics coming, guys. Here is some video Koa content from Nick Wheeler:

Roger, is that the third one of Nick's trio? The Mango, Ironwood (I think?) and this Koa???
I love Koa, and that piece is just the epitome of why it fascinates me so much!!!!! I've got a couple nice pieces, but none with that depth!
Awesome knife, too!!!

Cheers buddy! This one is number 5 from the Paranee series (I forget the total number - 8 or 10 or so). The wood has some crazy chatoyance.
