A Caribou in nice Dessert Ironwood

A GM in rather straight grained Dessert Ironwood - This knife is special to me as it was the first made to order knife I ever bought.

Not wood but a Mini GM in stag. Also special - this is the first Mini GM Geno made.

Not a knife :). But i think it deserved to be here.
The longbow is not mine. Its belong to the wife of the bowmaker, Pieter Biebel. He has been hold as 2nd master archer in Germany few years ago, lives not far from Munich.
He allowed me to take picture of his work, and allowed me to stay at his house :) even treat me for a very nice dinner. He showed to me one of the best of his craftsmanship made from wood from my country, Maccasar Ebony.

You'll be forgiven if you don't recall part one - as it was a question I posed to the forum a decade ago in an attempt to get some idea of which woods were most favored by forum members.

This is a different take, however. Recent postings from Buddy Thomason on this Fisk bowie with a stunning (not to mention historic!) Chestnut handle:

And by STeven of his lovely Zowada puuko withe fiery Redwood burl:

.... have called to mind why wood remains my fave of all handle materials. Endless variety in colour and figure, and easily shaped to whatever design fits the aesthetic and ergonomic ideals of the maker.

So I'd like to see some examples of what YOU think are really FIRST RATE examples of wood in a knife application (sounds like a category for the Oscars - and I might actually watch if it were!)

Doesn't need to be your knife. Doesn't need to be a fancy knife. Just needs to be your idea of some awesome wood.

Here are a few of mine:

Joe - I love that old school Dean camp knife.

Thanks Roger. Those were the type knives that really piqued my interest in customs about a decade ago. Have always loved a good quality camp knife.

Off to Lin Rhea's thread. :D
