Great Eastern Cutlery 2024 lucky pattern 13

Is anyone else having issues with the single blade 13's hitting it's edge when closing them? Mine had a nice roll in the edge where it's making contract with the spring around that center pin, even when I try to close it gently it still makes contact with the backspring.

I was under the impression that the Whip's blade is longer than the Clerk's main blade.

ot ya. I was just wondering if they made the same blade for all the versions, or if the grind is different for one-blade version.
The clerk has a swedge to make room for the pen to close. The main blade is ground from thicker stock, because the spring is thicker to add extra room for the pen.

You can see the dink in the whips edge in this photo too. It doesn't really bother me it just needs to be closed easily.

I’ve had no problems with the two I purchased from this run. The one I got from the previous run had a proud tip but it was a S knife. Filing down the kick took care of it.
Interesting, I was a bit surprised by it simply because I have never had a GEC make contact with the backspring. I'm hoping that over time as it gets sharpened it will just go away since it is such a small nick.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one. It doesn't bother me either since it is very minor, just a bit surprised it's doing it. Hopefully it'll just sharpen down enough to stop being an issue.

Jiki Jiki taught me that if you’re getting blade rapp you can just sharpen it out. It has worked for me with a couple of Albers jacks that had the issue. 🤷

For folks who are interested, here's a comparison of the #13 with the #61/62:

I lucked into this "Lucky" pattern 13 Whip, with nice stripey, straight grain Coca Handles!
These make such a compact little pocket slicer, I may have to add it to my pocket once in a while!!! The relatively longish blade is an added benefit!!Cocobola Whip 1.jpg
(Lets me show off my first attempt at a Komboloi, also!!! Bone beads!!)
