Great Eastern Cutlery ( GEC ) group shots / photo requests

Can anyone put a 33 Conductor side by side with a Pemberton? Or also a 33 with an 85? Curious to see this pairing to gauge the size of a 33 (don't have one but I have a Pemberton and an 85).

Thanks!

Here's a few pics for you. I alternate between the two for watch pocket carry. I love 'em both.

Here's a group shot of my collection (minus the S&M Heritage...that one is in the shop for a tune-up).

From L to R: 4 #15's, #85, #72, and a #42

And one more for good measure...

Howdy Jeff! It's tough to choose an absolute favourite between my wharnies, but I will say that the #55 Hound Tooth gets the most pocket-time. Such a good lookin' design and very comfortable both in hand and in pocket. GEC hit a home run with this one, imo... 'nuff said!

The GEC-made Fruitport is probably the superior folder of the bunch, truth be told. Excellent fit & finish, fantastic convex edge (thanks to the folks down at Bark River; far better than any GEC factory edge I've received to date,) fits my hand well, and is comfortable to carry. Comes with a very nice leather pocket slip too! On the days when I can't decide between a larger or smaller folder, the 3.75" closed frame of the Fruitport is a perfect compromise. Pick one up if ya can; you won't regret it!

The #61 is a good knife. Nice and slim in pocket, but it's heavier than the others due to the big bolsters. Unless I carry it in a slip pouch, it tends to sink to the bottom of my pocket and lays horizontally. I like the secondary coping blade but it has a pokey corner that I feel when using the master blade. Not sharp, just distracting. For some reason, the master blade is giving me a bit o' trouble setting the edge. I'll have to set aside some time to put a proper edge on it; once I do, I'll probably carry it more often.

The #25 is a great little wharnie! I also have an Easy Open #25 sheepsfoot in 440C. Both are spectacular secondary carry knives but I'd certainly be comfortable carrying either solo for EDC.

Hope this helps ya make a decision, fella!

Brett, what a great summary! Dont know how I missed this until now but I appreciate the time you put into your response. I am certainly looking to expand my wharnie collection, so many solid contenders out right now. You have givin me great food for thought, thanks again.

Forgot the reason I was looking in this thread....

I have a pic request.

I have been debating on picking up a t.k.cuban and moding the pen into a coping blade. Anyone have a pic of the pen with the nail nick showing compaired to some other GECs? Maybe next to a 53 stock knife coping or a boys knife or Charlow. Just trying to get an idea of how big it is and how much would be left after. Appreciate anyones effort in advance.

Hope this helps. #53 Cuban Stockman, #53 Cuban Pen, and #15 Boys Knife. The pen blade is the same length as the one on the #15 but wider.

Thanks so much Trand, really appreciate that great pic. Guess it confirms for me that it will just be too small of a coping by the time its ground down. Was hoping it was a longer pen like on the 85 jack or the gunstock. Ah well, saves me some money ;)

No problem Jeff. Sometimes they're longer like on the #48J (2 3/16" pen secondary) but sometimes not. It is a very thin and capable pen blade though.

Fes, my eyes hurt :)

Coyote711,

Gee sorry i lost track of this topic and just found your post with the great pics of the 06 and 33! Thanks so much those pics give a great comparison of scale between the two. The 33 is a bit smaller than I'd envisioned and in fact I like that. I sure do love my Pemberton, it's the sidekick to my #55 EDC. The 33 is a sweet knife!

No problem arizonaranchman - I had forgotten about it myself until Trand brought the thread to the top again. I'm glad you liked the pics and hope they helped. I agree - the 33 is a sweet knife, as is the Pemberton! ;)

OK here's just a random layout of some of mine...

Top to bottom: #06 Pemberton w/clip&pen, #55 Houndstooth w/Spear, #92 Eureka Jack w/Spear&Coping. All are in Autumn Gold bone.
