Don't think were mentioned yet.

But "Gangs of New York" had the best hand weapons period.

IMHO Gangs of New York was hands down Scorsese's best film. Such an amazing piece of story telling, and one of the All-Time Great Cinematic Performances in Day-Lewis' portrayal of Bill. A true Benchmark.

remember these? From T-2

What is this?.. reading this thread I was thinking about this scene where Linda carves something into the bench. I was thinking it was a USMC ka bar, but it doesn't look like one.

Great pics everyone!!

I used to watch Tour of Duty all the time... I thought it was really well done.

Wasn't the Outsiders kind of the movie to popularize knives / blades in gang culture and... hence the legal system took over to make assist openers illegal? I was only 10 when that movie came out so gangs and that culture were not yet in my vocabulary.

There was a "fake" Road Warrior?... Great sci-fi film, with some of the best movie props ever. but a fake one.... yikes.

Who made the swords and blade weapon props in The Gladiator movie?

Also I am not sure what was more riveting the knife or the way that hot crazy chick in "Die Hard With a Vengeance" used it.

The movie The Last House On The Left, one of the criminals uses a Fully Serrated Spyderco Endura!

That movie is a remake. Do yourself a favor and watch the original cult classic "The Last House On The Left." It was Wes Craven's first film and caused a lot of controversy in the 70's. It had a knife in it too...

Actually, no. The Outsiders certainly does have a lot of automatic knives in it, but switchblades became taboo in the 50's and 60's. Switchblades were villainized in the movies and media in general becoming synonymous with street gang culture during that period. However the automatic knife laws were just as ridiculous back then as they are today in my opinion. Anyways, these vids show some of the films that featured switchblades in that couple of decades (and some before the 50's too)...

If you liked these check out my youtube channel. I'm doing a vid for the 80's next...

does anybody know what kind of knife John Malkovich's character, Marvin Boggs, pulls on Bruce Willis in RED? in the scene where the characters first meet and Malkovich is holding a crossbow, and Bruce Willis asks him to "please remove your knife from my balls, now." just from the look i got of it, it looked to be some sort of kukri, but i can't find any screenshots of the scene and I was wondering if any of you fellows might know what I'm talking about?

EDIT: i found a video clip with the knife i mentioned in it, i can be seen starting around 0:48-0:49 and is pointed at Bruce Willis'....lower regions.

She uses a SOG bowie to carve the park bench.

EDIT: Nevermind, didn't see Arowanana's post.

omg!
should knifedom even contemplate about paying homage to this movie?
any guesses out there as to the one single movie that did the worst possible damage to knife rights?

I assume you're referring to Rebel Without a Cause. But it doesn't deserve all the credit.
Don't forget High School Confidential , Blackboard Jungle, Wild Ones, and a number of teen "terror" flics.
Even West Side Story and 12 Angry Men figured in.

I don't blame the films, but the idiot senators who used them to garner publicity with the USA Switchblade Act of 1958.

The knife Jennifer Garner used to kill the great big terrorist in "The Kingdom."
Sean Connery's sword in "The Wind and The Lion."

I've seen this one in other places too -- even own one and can't help but wonder about its efficacy as a fighting tool. I guess the concept is "punch and hack." You get caught with those spikes in the head and I wouldn't want to be you; but it's pretty damn awkward.

This knife definitely deserves accolades, due to the fact that it played a key role in what is widely regarded as the best fight scene in the history of cinema.

By whom?
Only one person has a knife.
Seems more a fist/foot/knee/towel/hook and screaming scene.;)

Do you like gladiator movies? :D
Check out the Spartacus series Starz did. Mostly short swords and such, but a fair amount of knives too. I'm fairly insensitive to film gore, but the amount of gore and level of realism was over the top.

It is eye catching for sure, but you wonder who is more likely to get hurt, you or the opponent. :D

hahaha awesome. I thought of that scene as soon as i saw that blade. Shame on me for not digging up that clip myself.

*thinks alan missed ursamajor's sarcasm*
