Well, I ordered it from Knives Ship Free and had it sent to my friend's house that works second shift so someone would be there to get the package.

Well, he had some errands to run, got home, grabbed the mail. There's my envelope............empty!!

Some sorry SOB came by, got in his mailbox, tore the envelope open and stole the damn knife!! Now I'm out $130 and just ticked off.

Of course this is no fault of the shipper, just some low life.


BAH!!!! Rant off........for now. :mad:

Makes one want to stick a rattle snake in a padded envelope in hopes that the idiot returns.
 
That is why I keep a p.o. box. I ma glad I haven't run across the thieves who stole my stuff several years ago. If I had I'd be in prison for what I would've done to em.
 
Based on my experience, knives not in boxes and shipped loose in envelopes are most likely to fall pray to rough handling and get torn from their envelope.

Why do you suspect a problem at the mailbox; has the mail carrier confirmed that there was something in the envelope that was delivered?

I would contact Derrick right away; I would also start the process of filing a claim with the USPS.

I know "Knives Ship Free" are a favorite of some because they are friends of the owners or they like the service.

However, I do not find their prices good - even when you include shipping. And considering they ship with the US Postal service; that makes the price even worse..

I recently did business with a on line store that has gotten a bad review on this board and yet they shipped a $25 in a box with packing material so it didn't move around.

I hope you get your money back or another knife.
 
I have done alot of deals with Derrick and I have never had an issue with packing or shipping or prices....to each there own but I too have a po box just for shipping purposes
 
A couple of notes....

Insurance would not matter. Once they scan it as delivered, they consider their insurance done. Been there done that.

I am sorry to hear that the box was broken into and the knife was stolen.

Please send me your order number and a secure address and I will ship a new knife. I believe we are out of that knife, but have more inbound from RAT Cutlery and will ship ASAP.

We have never had trouble with a knife being pilfered from the US postal service, nor have we had problems with our packaging.

As to whether or not we have the best prices around...we don't. We have good prices, everything in stock, and good service. We take care of our customers.

Very true.

I was shopping around for a particular knife tonight (that you don't carry :) ) and found one dealer with a great rep and the best price. But he was Out of Stock. KSF has incredible stock for a relatively new dealer representing really good companies. Reliability and response count for a lot more than a few bucks now and again.

I'm normally a Newgraham.com fan, if they have it I buy it there, always have and never had a reason to switch. You've won me over. My next knife purchased will come from you guys and I'll give ya a shot at matching or beating NewGraham for my favorite knife retailer.
