Based on my experience, knives not in boxes and shipped loose in envelopes are most likely to fall pray to rough handling and get torn from their envelope.

Why do you suspect a problem at the mailbox; has the mail carrier confirmed that there was something in the envelope that was delivered?

I would contact Derrick right away; I would also start the process of filing a claim with the USPS.

Agree with Big Mike. My wife works for the USPS and she has delivered damaged packaging, where it was obvious that there wasn't anything left inside. But there was also a note stating that it was delivered in damaged condition. Sometimes she gets packaging that has been resealed by the USPS, because it was damaged and open when they received it at the delivering post office.

Insurance would not matter. Once they scan it as delivered, they consider their insurance done. Been there done that.

I am sorry to hear that the box was broken into and the knife was stolen.

Please send me your order number and a secure address and I will ship a new knife. I believe we are out of that knife, but have more inbound from RAT Cutlery and will ship ASAP.

We have never had trouble with a knife being pilfered from the US postal service, nor have we had problems with our packaging.

As to whether or not we have the best prices around...we don't. We have good prices, everything in stock, and good service. We take care of our customers.

I bought my wife a Coach purse for christmas, and Fed Ex left it on my porch, and it had coach plastered all over it. I was not happy, just glad I got home before it was swipped!


I won a Coach purse for my wife from work and it was to be shipped. I requested signature delivery, and put in the shipping notes "DO NOT LEAVE ON PORCH". Long story short, they left it on the porch and it was stolen.

My mistake was telling my wife it was coming, it never did and I have never been able to get her one. Guess how well that worked out for me? Started off great, finished not so great lol. Never got anything out of it from UPS.
 
I've ordered a few things from Derrick and always had first rate service. Also prompt replies to any email queries.

I'm still stunned at the customer service of Derrick. I did get a PO Box set up today so I'll be letting him know it very soon.

Maybe one day, I'll be able to repay this gentleman and his company. Some way other than repeat business (which he'll get) and word of mouth (which I'll tell everyone I can).

Once again I must say thank you to Derrick and to this wonderful family of people we have here. I shouldn't be surprised but in this day and age, it's WONDERFUL to see people help each other out like this.

You folks are truly wonderful and I thank God for bringing me to this forum so that I may be surrounded by such good folks.
