GSO-4.7 Cru Forge V

GSO-4.7 CFV arrived this afternoon! The fit and finish are much improved compared to my older GSO-5.0. It's also worth noting that the 4.7 has more of a drop-point than the more traditional shape of the 5.0. The new handle feels perfect, and I'm not sure how it could possibly be improved! The DARK natural canvas looks awesome! There are going to be quite a few happy campers this week!

Thanks for sharing emechtech! I sure hope I get to be one of those "happy campers" this week. Every time I handle a GSO the ergonomics and balance feel spot on but Guy is always is a step ahead of all of us and he figures out subtle little improvements that make perfect even better. I guess that's why he builds them and we buy them.....

You'll have to let us know if the micarta lightens up over time or if this batch of natural really is darker.

Hi everyone. Just received order 8519 today. I don't frequent the Survive threads much, but checked it out due to my delivery. The 4.7 is definitely a nice knife. Ordered in April, 4 months wait, not to bad. But I've been waiting on a 3V 4.7 since April of last year! Ridiculous in my opinion! I received my 5.1 and was so disgusted in the wait I looked it over and promptly traded it away! Guess I`m not as dedicated as the rest of you fans. But I definitely like this 4.7! Much better size wise than 5.1 for me. Also have a 3.5 that I love!
 
Hopefully you'll enjoy the hell out of that 4.7.
The wait is a tough one, but it looks like they're ironing out the kinks and getting knives out quicker.
It takes some cojones to basically start from scratch with a full line of new knives!
 
badglide, I'm glad you like your new 4.7. Hopefully your next one will be on its way soon.

Patience is definitely required when preordering!
 
Really didn't want to make the drive home tonight but I just had to get to the post office so I could crack this package open. I hate the wait as much as anyone but when they show up it's definitely all worth it for me.

Man, that black on tan (FDE) looks so great. Your handle is canvas, right? If so, must be well oiled. Regardless, that's super sexy. Enjoy!
 
I got the 4.7 in and like it more than I thought! I think i'm still more of a fan of the 5.1 but it's making me think i may need to keep a 4.7 in the lineup. Great feel in hand, thanks Surivive!

Canvas, correct. It looks great with the coating, looking forward to using it next to the 3V model to see if the coating creates a noticeable drag when using it.

Such a great color scheme. I haven't noticed any real performance difference so far between batoning and carving, but you're definitely more of a knife wizard than myself.

Strip it? You're crazy :D

I love that look and would probably mess up the non-coated blade if it really is that corrosion prone. But that's just me!

Well, if order 8501 shipped on 8/12 and 8584 shipped on 8/16, that's ~20 orders per day (no idea how many knives per order), so it may be as soon as next week! :) I'm waiting on a 4.7 pre-order with natural-canvas, so I may be in direct competition for your scales!
