I would like to see that. I'm sure in good time. I'm gonna have to go get a second job and fast so I can start putting my checks back.

Man that's no joke. I'm going to have to list some stuff on the exchange if I don't knock it off.

I'm gonna have to list a kidney on the black market :D

Did we determine if the mystery steel 4.7 will ship together in the same box with the regular 4.7 for the lucky testers?

For my taste, a coated blade of any type has limited utility. But I know there are fans of them, and I know Guy will provide the best of breed in this category.

I'm with you. All of the Beckerheads can't get coating off of their blades fast enough, and we are all losing our minds over adding it to ours. If the coating is smooth, and doesn't inhibit cutting performance, I may be convinced of it. Frankly, a non corrosive CPM-3V would be a dream come true. If a coating can offer that, plus amazing wear resistance, and no drag on the blade as it cuts... Sign me up. I tend, at this point, to prefer an uncoated blade. Yes, this means more care in the field, but it's not that big of a burden. I'm no cynic. If we can bring these revolutions or evolutions to S!K blades... Oh, the possibilities!!

Forte, have you seen the instagram pics of the 3v corrosion tests? If not, I think you'll like what you see!

I have, and they're simply awesome! That new heat treat is a game changer.

I'm so glad I got my order in for a 4.1 and 4.7!! The 4.7 may... Just may... Be the closest thing I've seen to my ideal blade, but I have a love affair with my 4.1s... So I ordered one in new spec, rather than wish I had, and then end up getting one on the secondary market. I also ordered a 4.1 for my brother. I have tried getting him to adopt one of my 4.1s in order to give me a backup in new spec... But to no avail.

I almost plan on the 4.7 dethroning my 5, but I can't wait to see what all the hype is about with these 4.1's!!

I'm all about the Cerakote that they use now that I've had a chance to use the EDC-4. It already had some marks on it when I got it, but I used it to baton some seasoned oak and pine fatwood and it didn't seem to mark up much. It definitely has a nice smooth finish similar to DLC coatings but it'll last 2-3 times longer.

No coatings for me, unless the steel is really rust prone. 3V works just fine uncoated

I've got a bunch of RMD's and had one pre-starter 5.1. I've had an HRLM like chiral did the review on alongside the 5.1 when he made some of the handle recommendations that Guy took under advisement for the blade that replaced the GSO 5, the 4.7. Guy's ability to convert concept idea to real world product is seriously uncanny. When the drawings of the 4.7 came out, it was as if he had plucked the image from my mind, put there from the review. Based on what I know about the feel of the previously-listed blades, their handle contour and balance, I think the 4.7 has a chance to take over the top spot for me. I am excited for it, to say the least.

I just started researching the 4.7 Survive!. I thought it already came in 3V, so could someone explain what the difference is?

S! does not offer coatings on their 3v. What verysimple was referring to is their coatings that will be offered in the future for their new mystery steel. Which will be reviled after they're done with the R&D stage mentioned in the above post. Verysimple was stating to Guy and crew that they might as well just deposit his future pay checks in their account if they offered the 3v with a coating.

:D

Thank you. That's funny. Mystery steel? Will we still be able to buy it in 3V?

3V is their gold standard steel. Its not going any where. They are RnDing with some different carbon steels to offer a lower cost option to folks. They arent telling us what the budget carbon steel is. They want some people to beat em up, sharpen em up, and keep beating them up and then provide feedback before they announce what the steel is.

All this talk about the 4.7 is making me hungry... For the 4.7! Can't wait for it to arrive. :)
