So, is 3v still the way to go or 154?
I'd say 3v. It has definitely proven itself with SURVIVE!

If you're still debating between 1095 and 3v, I gotta say 3v. If you're really thinking you need MORE corrosion resistance and won't be really wailing in the knife then 154 could be a good choice. Personally I need some good user confessionals before I'm ready to stearate away from 20cv as my stainless of choice.

Tumbled or black oxide?
Sorry man, did I miss what your question is in reference to? Let us know so we can get you a good answer.

Agree. I just wanted to make sure before I put the order in.

Just preordered one in 3v with green handles, a green sheath, and tumbled fasteners.

I didn't see the 4.5 bushcrafter until after I placed my order and it had me second guess myself but I think I'm gonna stick with what I got.

I am interested in the 2.7 though.

I had a 4.7 on the Starter, but I decided to spend the proceeds of a recent 5.0 sale to get another 4.7 with a different scale/sheath configuration as a backup. Merry Christmas to me!!

I wish I had paid more attention while submitting the order. I picked canvas micarta but am considering asking to change my order to linen.

Anyone have any input on the canvas vs linen micarta? I've read a bunch of posts and a couple pages on the subject but can anyone give me any feedback regarding s!k handles?

Sure, I have all 3 types: G10, Micarta, and Linen.

In terms of traction, the micarta is the most grippy, followed by linen, then G10... But it is the dullest of the 3 aesthetically.

The colors in linen and G10 are more vibrant.

In terms of toughness, I cannot discern a difference.

I thought I would prefer the micarta for traction, but I butchered an entire mule deer in October with a 3.5 in G10 and never felt it was too slippery, even coated in blood.

I'd say, pick whatever you want aesthetically, and don't look back.

I have no direct experience, but went with S!K's description and chose green canvas - pictured here.

-Canvas is a medium cotton weave, impregnated with a phenolic resin. This coarse fabric based material has good texture, for a secure grip even in wet conditions.

-Linen is a fine cotton weave, impregnated with a phenolic resin. While not as textured a canvas, the fabric based material has good texture, for a secure grip even in wet conditions.

-G10 is a glass woven fabric, impregnated with an epoxy resin binder. The glass woven fabric itself is almost clear, so dyed G10 material exhibits very vibrant colors. Unlike Canvas and linen, the G10 handle surface is smoother and can feel somewhat slippery if your hands are oily or bloody.

What will your main uses be? For my uses, carving and processing wood, I really like linen and canvas. I've read that Guy prefers linen. If you're doing a lot of skinning or wet camping then maybe the canvas could be better. I'm sure others will have more specific advice. EDIT: advice like above ^^^ :)

I personally like all three handle materials. But I would say linen is probably my preferred option. But if you want more looks then functionality go for g10. Not to say it can't perform. If it couldn't I wouldn't see Guy putting it on the GSO 10. Just not as grippy as canvas or linen. But having used all three in wet conditions I would say linen is MY happy median between comfort and functionality.

Wow. Three solid responses quick!

I'm leaning towards linen. Main purpose would be a general woods/camp knife. Processing wood for fires, crafting pothooks and tripods, and whatever else I get into.

I got my name on a GSO-4.7! YES!!!! I'm so giddy that I'm dizzy! CPM-3v, green canvas, green kydex, black oxide fasteners. I'm going to have to sell some things maybe to replace funds, but it's worth it. I love the look of the green canvas micarta scales!
