I agree. Honestly, the way that Guy and Ellie are doing thing now is working, although there have certainly been unexpected delays. I'm getting kind of tired of people getting on here to explain just how they think the people of SURVIVE! should run their company. Just a note, SURVIVE! is still a business that needs to make money. That means perhaps selling inventory rather than putting it on a shelf in order to mollify a few angry customers.

Survive! team read this sub forum and it represents a microcosm of their clientele albeit perhaps a bit more on the friendly and sympathetic side. I think that they will find some of criticisms and suggestions presented in here as constructive feedback. I have seen a few posts here and there mired with anger and frustration but I haven't seen anything remotely malicious and nefarious. We all want to see their business to Survive! ;)

I agree with what you say with the exception that Survive!'s own customers are turning around and selling those 2nds for markups ranging from 25% up to 50% (and in some cases even more on eBay) As benevolent and blue collar as the Seiferd's may be, they will have to protect their own turf or else they will be committing business suicide. I wish that people who look at things from the demand side of the fence try to understand as to how the supply side of things looks too!
What I meant, is, if the business model changes, then they would have to compete with their own previous sales or customers, reselling. If their own customers sold for less or a loss, it would cost Survive! even more, because they couldn't sell their own stock for what they have into it. Plus we get the deal we get, because of how they do it.;)
Oh yeah, I Love my 4.7 CruForgeV!!

Now I see your angle.

BTW, I really like your sheaths. Hope to be spending some $$ with you soon as I am increasingly spending more $$$ on higher quality knives ;)

F-it! I put my money where my mouth is and just went and pre-ordered a 6. I'll get it when I get it, and it'll be in 3V and ghost green G10. I've come to the conclusion I'd rather order and pay up front for something I think I'll like. At least I put the money out when I know I can afford it.

Nailed it. The excellent price is as much a part of S!K as anything for me. People would pay higher prices for what they make if S! found more people to kick up the production numbers but the higher price and fuller production house would significantly change what the company is all about.

As far as I'm concerned, the major concern with their business model is them getting absolutely burned out. It sounds like Guy, Ellie, and possibly/probably Christian put in some hellacious hours. I will happily throw money and patience around to try and help keep them afloat.

Rocky, quite honestly I think that to be the right attitude and the correct method to go about procuring as perfect a knife model from Survive!

One can always try the Monday sales and hope to get one sooner (as some have already found out, this process is not that easy either) but let's not play the guild trip routine on the owners the knife makers and those who go for and end up with the 2nds.

In closing, I hope that those who are waiting for every conceivable version of the 4.7, be it preorder, preproduction, factory 2nds and SS, end up getting their S!K 4.7 soon so this matter will ends up closing to almost everyone's satisfaction

Congrats! I'm excited for you all. I wish I could afford to pick one of these up, but buying one of each model would probably be a bit excessive. For now, I'll just have to enjoy my 5.1. [emoji2]

Tracking number was created last week but the post office did not receive it until today. I should get it on Thursday and will post some photos of it. :)

If you get yours this week it will be like the 3rd GSO 4.7 on the internet!

Oh Vulcan, mighty lord of the forge, please let my 4.7 ship shortly after Lars'!

My $.02... When I paid money for a pre-order GSO-4.7 in December, what I took to be a soft date was mentioned, nothing like a guaranteed date. To me, I took it as a I-receive-it-when-I-receive-it.

Am I frustrated with Survive! wait times? Nope. Not at all. I know that each knife I've ordered and received exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and performance. What I want is the best knife possible, and S!K delivers that.

If it takes a year from when I placed the order, I'm good with it. Please just send me the very best knife possible. I know that Guy and Ellie and Christian will. I've never been anything but a satisfied customer. That's just me.

When I get my 4.7, to celebrate its arrival, I'm going to chop down a tree in a neighbor's yard and run like hell. (He lets his dog pee on my truck tires--he's earned it.)

You get my vote! :)

Chopping down a tree with a 4.7, while admirable, might be a stretch. Maybe you could use that wonderful 4.7 geometry and agility to make a snare trap near your truck. I know when I'm stuck hanging upside-down in a trap my bladder is the LAST thing on my mind. Should help with the pee on tires thing...

Gonna need pix of this 😀

I just want to know the last time you were stuck upside down in a trap. Not the circumstances… not my business what you do in your free time. Just when.

Anyone have the NTM field knife and a 4.7, wondering how one compares to the other, since they look to be about the same size, just different design.
Might be able to get one or other in the next few days and having trouble deciding which one to try for.

I know I can chop down a tree with a 4.7. :) I know I can. That is going to be one amazing knife! I'll take pics.

I am so happy. Not only is my family (mom and sister; I had not seen them in a while) visiting from Germany right now but I also got my GSO 4.7 in the mail today. I ordered it March 2015. When I picked it up from my PO Box I thought "this is kind of heavy". I had no idea that there was also a 4.7 Pre-Production Sample in it! :)

Since my family is visiting I have not been able to fully test it. I showed them a few sights and we did stop in a National Forest area though. I cut down a tree with my saw and started batoning the wood. It kind of felt like the coated pre-production sample went through the surprisingly tough wood a little easier? Both knives are great. My sister tried to keep the GSO with the black linen. Once we got back home I showed her my old 4.1 in comparison and she commented how much better the handle is. Anyways, we will eat soon but I am sure I will use both knives A LOT over the next few years. The size is just perfect for backpacking. Thank you so much for the sample, I feel honored.
